Job Responsibilities and Requirements: Position Description Reporting to the Manager of Facilities Projects Team, the incumbent provides professional detailed construction cost estimates and budget projections. The incumbent is also responsible for any and all coordination necessary to develop, produce and implement Job Order Contracts (JOCs) contracts from date of planner initiation through pre-construction meeting with the contractor. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Demonstrated knowledge of building trades and associated language. Knowledge of maintenance materials ordering/supply. Able to prepare sketches and cost estimates. Ability to read and interpret blueprints. Knowledge of building codes, California Administrative Code (CAC), Engineering Performance Standards (EPS). Substantial knowledge of the planning and estimating practices in a physical plant environment. Demonstrated knowledge of R. S. Means `Cost Works software or equivalent. Ability to coordinate and inspect work of outside contractors. Must be physically able to perform all job functions. Ability to effectively work individually or in teams as well as with diverse groups. Ability to effectively communicate orally, in writing or electronically. Ability to work effective in a service oriented environment subject to frequently changing priorities. Ability to follow through and carry out assignments. Problem solving skills and sound judgment. Ability to understand and apply University and Departmental policies and procedures. Asbestos and lead abatement knowledge. Ability to communicate with an ethnically and culturally diverse campus community. Ability to follow all university policies, procedures, and guidelines including but not limited to safety, civility, information security, and non-discrimination policies and procedures. Ability to contribute to a positive university experience for each and every student, and assist in achieving the university's commitment to a vision of excellence. Education and Experience Equivalent to a bachelor's degree in engineering, architecture, business management, plant management, industrial technology, or public administration. and two years of journey-level experience in one or more building or mechanical craft trades required. Experience working in a university or large institutional setting or public works environment, with public sector and job order contracting preferred. Licenses / Certificates CA Driver's License, Class C Equal Employment Opportunity.
