Job Responsibilities and Requirements: The VP, Medical Affairs is responsible for leading the development and execution of a patient centric medical affairs strategy for the Global Endoscopy business. With a background as a GI Physician, the position provides medical oversight, expertise and leadership to support the development and commercialization of an innovative portfolio. The position will have oversight of external stakeholder management with KOLs including communication, evidence generation, publications and medical education. This position requires significant collaboration with other functions including Quality, Medical Safety, Clinical, Regulatory, R&D, HEMA, Marketing, BD, Legal and others. The successful candidate will bring a robust background in GI with experience working with and influencing KOLs. Your responsibilities will include: Assisting in the identificaton and support of product development and portfolio planning initatives including unmet clinical needs and identifying other new and adjacent technologies to augment the existing endoscopy portfolio Formulating technology strategy, including assessment and investment efforts in both internal and acquired technologies for the development of future product pipelines, as well as diseases and markets in which Boston Scientific does not currently have an established business. Developing the scientific messaging platform for products in development and the therapeutic areas they address Collaborating with regulatory in the preparation of investigation device exemption (IDE), premarket approval (PMA), 510(k) clearance and CE Mark submissions. Serve as medical expert in meetings with FDA and other health agencies. Driving external stakeholder engagement strategy to strengthen external undertanding of the medical value of the endoscopy portfolio to clinicians, patients, societies and payers. Serving as the primary professional resource for scientific and medical communications with opinion leading healthcare professionals, physicians and key administrative decision makers. Strengthening engagement with medical community at a peer to peer level through various channels including advisory boards, users meetings, CME programs, academic collaborations and professional societies. Providing input, guidance, feedback and support to the commercial team and ensuring consistency and compliance of clinical content and scientific messages across publications and materials. Planning the integration and refinement of acquired and internal technologies leading to the development of Boston Scientific's future product portfolio. Supporting Field Action Committee processes as needed to ensure timely and medically supported field action decision-making. Participating as a member of the Grant Committee to manage funding of CME grants Interacting with Quality, Clinical amd Med Safety senior management concerning significant clinical safety matters to provide and obtain services supporting global patient safety goals. Supporting the development and execution of clinical and health-economic evidence generation strategy Serving as a spokesperson on matters of high significance with government regulatory agencies and key medical communities. Collaborating to ensure the safety and quality of our Company's products throughout the product life cycle (from development to commercialization). Adhering to and promotes the principles of the Corporate policy on ethics in human research. Establishes and promotes a work environment that supports the Quality Policy and Quality System. What we're looking for in you: MD degree with experience and training within GI for 20+ years. Medical specialization and sub specialization is also desirable, but not mandatory (e.g. Board Qualified or Eligible or other equivalent overseas qualifications). Experience in clinical research with a working knowledge of all stages of clinical development, regulatory requirements and health economics. Demonstrated success in fostering relationships, influencing and educating key opinion leaders within the GI space. Experience in the development and commercialization of endoscopy products. Technical writing and medical writing experience. Must be able to create and present technical/analytical data to key opinion leaders. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with an ability to influence across multiple functions. Strategic thinker with ability to understand emerging medical affairs trends and implications from a business standpoint. Highly analytical, accountable and results driven. Strong executive presence and influencing skills. Excellent communication skills (articulate and persuasive) to scientific and non-scientific groups. High sense of urgency and commitment to execution. Strong interpersonal skills to enable cross function and cross-business success. Demonstrated high degree of integrity, professionalism, and the ability to establish credibility internally and externally.
