Job Responsibilities and Requirements: Responsibilities Implement and manage intellectual property portfolio strategies worldwide to maximize value and utility of IP assets, working closely with R&D, Commercial and BD to identify key invention, strategic IP acquisition, and life cycle management opportunities Provide high level, independent support for due diligence and strategic collaborations and licensing agreements Manage and support IP litigation, IPRs, PGRs and Oppositions as required, participate in formulation of defense strategies for litigation Manage outside counsel effectively and within budget Prepare and prosecute patent applications worldwide Advise senior management on key IP issues Trademark and copyright counseling Qualifications JD plus advanced degree in chemistry preferred. Direct experience in small molecule patents, complex formulation technologies and preferably some drug-device patent experience. Strong knowledge of US and foreign patent and regulatory law (orphan, data exclusivities, SPC\u2019s etc.) Experience managing products through development, marketing approval and post-approval. IP transaction experience in due diligences and licensing and collaboration agreements. Experience managing patent litigation and administrative proceedings Exceptional interpersonal, high EQ, versatile and adaptable, able to multi-task in fast-paced environment while meeting deadlines Must be highly adaptable to directly participate in all aspects of intellectual property law including drafting applications, prosecuting applications, and portfolio management to meet budget Prior experience building or managing patent function in small to mid-sized biopharma, a plus At least 15 years relevant IP experience in the biopharmaceutical industry, including significant in-house experience Experience presenting and communicating complex information to senior management Exceptional oral and written communication skills Strong team player Admitted to practice.
