Job Responsibilities and Requirements: Duties may include, but are not limited to: Selects, supervises, trains, motivates, assigns, counsels and disciplines project staff Plans, schedules, coordinates, sequences and monitors, procurement and construction activities Organizes, mobilizes and directs project personnel and coordinates the efforts of subcontractors and other organizations involved in the project Ensures that required safety standards are complied with by all project staff and subcontractors Evaluates problems and determines and implements appropriate courses of action Provides timely communication of project and contract status and issues, and maintains technical and administrative control Provides overall direction to project personnel regarding professional standards, work quality and quantity, performance, and accountability Reviews drawings, specifications and subcontractor submittals Prepares, reviews, and approves correspondence and reports Monitors, and manages project budgets and authorizes expenditures Represents company in negotiations with owners, architects, subcontractors and others involved in the project Responsible for overall safety at work site Manages and supervises direct work on projects Performs related duties as required Minimum Skills, Experience and Other Requirements: Bachelors Degree in Construction Management or equivalent Ten to fifteen years of construction experience with three to five years as a Superintendent Knowledge of Principles and practices of organization, administration and fiscal and personnel management Principles and practices of project management, contract administration, contract negotiations and construction management Principles and practices of construction inspection and materials testing Principles and procedures of safety management in the construction industry Job cost reports and reporting Methods, materials, equipment and techniques of design and construction, including self-performed work Construction claim avoidance and claim resolution techniques Principles of supervision, training, employee development and motivation and effective discipline Quality control/quality assurance practices in the design and construction industry Pertinent local, state and federal laws, rules, regulations and procedures Skill/Ability t o: Supervise, train, motivate, assign, evaluate, counsel and discipline professional, technical and clerical staff Plan, prepare and manage schedules Manage/direct project team on day to day activities Oversee project quality Confront issues, make decisions and resolve conflicts Establish partnership relationships with subcontractors and owners to support their success Analyze problems, evaluate alternatives, and develop and implement sound courses of action in areas of responsibility Adjust to changing priorities from various directives, manage workload changes and impacts, including multi-tasking under stress to meet deadlines Present information and ideas clearly and with confidence orally and in writing Prepare administrative, statistical, fiscal and technical reports and correspondence Effectively implement new policies, procedures and systems Use applicable computer programs Conduct negotiations in a persuasive manner and consolidate a variety of viewpoints into a logical proposal Represent the company to owners, architects, subcontractors and other professionals Balance the needs of the project with financial limitations and/or technical requirements, allocating appropriate resources and identifying alternatives Establish and maintain effective and cooperative working relationships with others contacted in the course of performing assigned responsibilities Possession of a valid California driver license Ability to climb, walk, stand, stoop and crouch for extended periods of time Willingness to work on weekends, evenings and holidays Willingness to work emergency or on-call duty Willingness to work outdoors in all kinds of weather and under hazardous conditions.
