QUALIFICATIONS - RECOGNIZES INSTITUTIONS OF HIGHER EDUCATION WHICH ARE ACCREDITED BY THE COUNCIL FOR HIGHER EDUCATION ACCREDITATION OR EQUIVALENT Ingredients for Success: We Look For in You - MS in Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, Molecular Biology or a related field with Bioinformatics analysis experience or BS in Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, Molecular Biology or a related field with 2+ years of Bioinformatics analysis experience. - Experience in one or more areas of bioinformatics/computational biology including protein and DNA sequence analysis and use of various bioinformatics and data analysis applications in Unix and other operating systems - Computing skills with Perl or Python and/or other scripting/programming languages - SQL and knowledge of database design Demonstrated ability in: defining requirements and interpreting results for scientists working as part of a team and communicating effectively innovative thinking and implementation We'd also like to see - Understanding of statistical analysis methods - Additional experience in other areas of Bioinformatics: - genome sequence analysis - Biodiversity analysis such as phylogenetics and comparative phylogenomics - metagenomics pathway and functional analysis (gene/protein sequence-based function annotations and gene ontologies) - analysis of protein expression - meaningful integration and assembly of different types of biological, biophysical and informatics data.
