Job Responsibilities and Requirements: The Sr. Associate Vice Chancellor is responsible for the establishment of strategic direction and operational control of: Urban planning and design of UCSF campuses Planning, design and construction of campus facilities Oversight of space inventories and, in conjunction with other senior leadership, allocation of campus space inventories Acquisition, disposition, leasing and management of properties for UCSF s use, including outsource development agreements in the form of public/private partnerships (P3 s) Advising the Chancellor, Senior Vice Chancellor for Finance and Administration, and the Executive Vice Chancellor and Provost on matters related to the UCSF built environment. REAL ESTATE, PLANNING, & CAPITAL PROGRAMS The Department of Real Estate, Planning, & Capital Programs (REPCAP) includes approximately 93 UCSF and 21 contract personnel; operating/recharge budgets of more than $18M per year; current year capital project expenditures of $208M; and oversight and responsibility for a $2B long-range capital development plan (more than $1B of which is currently in design and scheduled to be completed within the next four years). Additionally, since REPCAP is a new organization that was formed from three separate groups - Real Estate and Asset Development, Campus Planning, and Capital Programs in the Fall of 2016, - the position will include management of ongoing organizational change and integration activities. ABOUT UCSF The University of California, San Francisco (UCSF) is a leading university dedicated to promoting health worldwide through advanced biomedical research, graduate-level education in the life sciences and health professions, and excellence in patient care. It is the only campus in the 10-campus UC system dedicated exclusively to the health sciences. Required Qualifications Degree in construction management, architecture, planning, or related field; or equivalent experience Fifteen years of progressively responsible experience--at least ten of which are at the management level, five at a senior management level - and a successful track-record in real estate development, campus or urban planning, capital program development, and construction contracting and management Knowledge of facility operations problems, as well as engineering and architectural systems and applicable codes, standards, and regulations in a university, hospital, or research laboratory environment Knowledge of sustainability principles and practices (as validated, for instance, by standing as a LEED Accredited Professional) Ability to build and lead a strong team while contributing to the overall effectiveness and reputation of REPCAP Demonstrated ability to manage the programming and design of large, complex facilities projects The ability to interact effectively with departmental staff as well as campus and university-wide administrators Exceptional leadership, collaboration, communication, and client service skills Ability to effectively hire, motivate, organize and supervise employees Excellent writing and oral communication skills Note: Fingerprinting and background check required.
