Job Responsibilities and Requirements: Primary Duties:This position will be responsible for the following: serving as the global lead IP counsel for the Hematology franchise, providing legal advice and client service related to patents, trademarks and other intellectual property matters, including litigation; overseeing domestic and international patent prosecution; assisting on business development transactions, including the drafting and preparation of licensing, collaboration, confidentiality, material transfer, university relations and sponsored research agreements. Responsibilities: 40% General IP counseling, including overseeing patent preparation, prosecution, working with business partners and litigation 30% Diligence activities 30% Transactional workEducation and Experience Requirements:JD and registration to practice before the USPTO and strong technical background in chemistry, biochemistry or molecular biology. Candidate should have 10 years of experience in Intellectual Property. Law firm and in-house experience preferred. Key Skills, Abilities, and Competencies: Skills: In depth knowledge of practice before the US Patent and Trademark Office and the European Patent Office. Strong technical analysis skills in the area of biologics and pharmaceutics. Ability to negotiate, draft and revise agreements. Strong knowledge of relevant case law, industry trends and changing legislation. Leadership Capabilities: Integrity; ability to establish productive relationships at all levels of organization; team player, proactive, sound business judgment; ability to quantify and mitigate risks; strong written and oral communication skills; positive work ethics and high energy. Some international and domestic travel.
