Job Responsibilities and Requirements: About the role: As a Scala Developer, you will play an instrumental role in building out scalable and robust back-end systems in Java and Scala, serving web applications for a technically demanding/impactful project in the financial sector. Day-to-day you will: Learn and master the Typesafe Reactive Platform (Scala, Akka, and Play) and build skills in functional programming Work with the team's Scala architect to set and enforce clear guidelines for best practices and test coverage while recommending design patterns Thrive in a faced-paced team environment, working closely with client stakeholders in the finance industry Travel, as needed Qualifications you: You re excited about the latest in FinTech and have a strong interest in functional programming (specifically Scala). You re personable and enthusiastic, looking to join a team of others like you. You likely have experience as a consultant, working with external clients on a regular basis. Your technical and business skill-set likely includes: Solid Enterprise Java, or working knowledge of Scala fundamentals including programming languages, best practices, development and operations awareness and Java Gang of Four Design Patterns Experience in tech consulting and/or the financial services sector is an asset Familiarity with building enterprise web platforms. You likely have a Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or Software Engineering and 3 or more years developing in Java (or Scala) with a focus on server side development.
