Job Responsibilities and Requirements: This dynamic team is charged with managing all aspects of animal health care for multiple species in a research colony, providing strong scientific and technical support to multiple therapeutic areas for in vivo studies and providing technical training. As a member of the CAR team and strong collaborative partner with research staff, some responsibilities may include: Creating and implementing policies/procedures in support of animal health care and in vivo scientific research Performing veterinary health care and monitoring within a research vivarium Partnering with the team to provide technical skills training for CAR research staff and investigators Providing a high level of scientific and technical support to all therapeutic areas for various projects or programs Collaborating with the CAR Veterinarians, surgeon(s) and investigators to design and refine animal models, facilitating in-life research Basic Qualifications: Masters degree OR Bachelor of Science degree and 2 years of Scientific expereince Preferred Qualifications: RVT or LVT certification Certified by AALAS at the LATG level Surgical Research Specialist (SRS) certification Bachelor's or Master's degree in a scientific or animal science field 4 years working in a research setting Previous experience training in a technical training program Experience leading and performing in-life research studies in various species Strong technical skill set in rodent animal procedures required to support research studies for various therapeutic areas, especially cardiovascular research Managerial Skill Set: Adaptability/flexibility to effectively work in an environment with changing priorities and urgency for project completion Highly self-motivated, driven to excel, ability to work independently and prioritize responsibilities and projects Excellent communication and interpersonal skills (written and oral) and the ability to function and collaborate successfully in a matrixed team environment Technical Skill Set: Experience leading, performing and providing technical training Proficient in basic bio-methodology techniques, anesthesia and physiological monitoring, compound dosing, and sample collection for rodents Experience managing veterinary health care for various rodent species in a vivarium, including healthcare management of specialized animal disease models is an Equal Opportunity employer.
