Job Responsibilities and Requirements: The Vice President of Project Execution, Construction will oversee construction activities for a number of projects, while also gaining valuable exposure to a high-caliber executive management team, as well as direct interaction with development, acquisitions, and management. Reporting to the Senior Vice President of Engineering and Projects, this highly visible and role is an excellent opportunity that offers autonomy and leadership responsibilities in company with outstanding results, and a positive, team-oriented, forward-thinking culture. Covanta is growing and the position will have significant interaction and exposure to executive management. This position will be based at our corporate office in Morristown, NJ. The Vice President of Project Execution, Construction will be responsible for oversight of all large project (>$5 MM) construction activities. This person will lead, develop, and oversee a team of project professionals in the full life-cycle of construction. The successful candidate will: Lead the Project execution and construction management teams Provide credibility and support to the executing teams to provide best execution strategy Develop project execution metrics and streamlined processes - included stage gated capital projects and ability to measure progress, productivity and successful execution Foster ability to leverage contractors Provide leadership for construction contractor safety Staff to ensure an inclusive perspective and develop teams. Understand bid, project, or work process execution issues and how to leverage our resources and technology to achieve business objectives. Position Requirements Covanta seeks a responsible self-starter with strong management experience over multiple projects in the industrial sector, who can perform at both a strategic and hands-on level. Minimum 15 years of related experience with at least 5 years supervisory experience (staff and subcontractor) and construction field experience. Bachelor s Degree required, preferable in a relevant field such as Construction Management, Engineering, or Architecture. Knowledge of construction procedures, trade practices, building codes, project scheduling, project cost control, safety procedures, and coordination of projects. Present and/or past experience with turnaround activities. Strong detail orientation. Self-direction, diplomacy, and analytical thinking with courteous and professional manor when dealing with people. Excellent oral and written communication skills, with proven negotiation skills Entrepreneurial spirit with a positive attitude.
