Job Responsibilities and Requirements: The Director, Finance and Strategy - Marketing Investment will support and develop ELC Companies enterprise-wide efforts to enhance our capabilities in marketing investment and planning. Critical functions of this role include developing expertise and capability in these areas, and serving as an integration point between our Global Brands and Regions.This role will support, develop and lead two key enterprise-wide efforts, leveraging best practices and driving change across all major brands and regions of the company: Marketing Investment: Supporting Brands and Regions to maximize the effectiveness and efficiency of their annual advertising and promotion (A&P) spend, and deliver, in partnership with Brands and Regions, against annual incremental value targets as set by the CFO and the executive business owners of the project, including the EVP of Corporate Marketing Planning: Driving tighter linkage between the three year strategy cycle and the annual operating plan (budget) for goal setting, A&P spend priorities and ongoing program measurement. Within this area the role will focus on enhanced reporting and analytics, recommending and enacting process improvement, and work directly with Brands and Regions to drive change. This individual will be supported in this effort by a large and indirect team pulled from the global and regional corporate marketing teams, including Analytics & CRM, Consumer Insights and Consumer Engagement. The ultimate goal of this position is to identify best practices and ensure proper operationalization of the guidelines in key regions and brands through immersive assignments and strong connectivity to brand / regional leadership teams.Analytical thinking - Ability to visualize, articulate and solve complex problems/concepts in a clear, logical and uncomplicated manner. Considers a full range of factors (e.g. individual, interpersonal, and organizational) impacting a decision. Deprioritizes poor assumptions and hypotheses quickly. Gathers and analyzes the right information to make timely and effective decisions/formulate effective plans. Understands how to develop hypotheses and asks questions. Uses analyses to make recommendations based on a range of scenarios Strategic Thinking - able to link macro factors with internal knowledge to proactively develop and communicate long-term perspectives and actionable recommendations based on opportunities, threats and risks for a brand, function or geography/channel. Challenges or builds on current thinking resulting in new solutions that would give us a competitive advantage, translating into more profitable growth, while enhancing our brand equity. Data Analysis - proficient in data analysis, modeling, and statistics. Influences business decision makers based on knowledge. Adept at working with multiple, inconsistent data sets from across the organization. Extracts insight from disparate sources of data. Assists non-financial partners in interpreting complex analyses. Business Partnership - develops strong partnership with brand, region and global business leaders. Seen as trusted partner during key decision points and strategic discussions. Understands business partners key issues, create plans to address, including prioritizing efforts.Leadership - will need to be persuasive and have strong communication skills to lead cross function and cross brand alignment to drive decisions to conclusion. Many decisions made in this area need to be done within a deadline thus having strong leadership skills will help drive the decisions to complete on time. This is a servitude leadership role in that leadership is required to make things happen behind the scenes. Independence of Action and Accountability - role will require self-direction, establishing process deadlines as long as it meets total corporate deadlines Bachelors degree, MBA preferred 8 years minimum experience 10% travel time Understands relational databases, SAP and other enterprise wide data warehousing technology a plus.
