Job Responsibilities and Requirements: ESSENTIAL DUTIES: Under general supervision, journey level Stationary Engineers: Operate, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair a wide variety of pumping, heating, ventilating, air conditioning, refrigeration, auxiliary plant machinery and equipment and computerized building management and maintenance systems, in a large, complex or multifaceted facility. Essential functions of the class include: Ensuring that all equipment, machinery and systems are functioning normally and safely; Complying with all applicable safety rules and regulations when operating machinery and equipment; Troubleshooting and making operating repairs and adjustments to boilers, H.V.A.C. chillers, refrigeration systems, switchboards, controls (DDC, DGP, SCADA), elevators, and other machinery; Maintaining and repairing institutional instruments, furniture, equipment and specialized machines and apparatuses; Carrying out and explaining established plant operations, methods, and procedures; preparing routine plant records and reports (CMMS); Maintaining facility keys, communication equipment and building security; Interfacing with contractors, building tenants and the general public; and Responding to potentially hazardous situations. Some positions may oversee the work of a small number of co-workers. The 7334 Stationary Engineer also performs other related duties as required. Working Conditions: Nature of work involves physical effort in the repair and maintenance of machinery and equipment; the ability to lift heavy objects; exposure to working conditions where minor abrasions, bruises, and burns may occur; occasional uncomfortable work inside closed and dirty spaces; exposure to potential uncomfortable weather conditions and traffic conditions; and requires physical stamina to stand, stoop, bend and climb ladders while working in confined spaces, entryways and tight crawl spaces. Some positions may also require the ability to operate both automatic and manual automobile transmission as needed. Minimum Qualifications Experience: Four (4) years of verified journey-level stationary engineer experience in the maintenance, repair and operation of a variety of mechanical and electrical pumping, heating, air conditioning, ventilating and related plant machinery used in a government establishment, hospital, industrial, production or commercial building; AND License and Certification: Possession of a valid California Drivers License AND Possession at time of hire a Universal Chlorofluorocarbon (CFC) certificate issued by the Federal Environmental Protection Agency.
