Global IP Associate Counsel

Job Responsibilities and Requirements: This role will help: Work with product development teams as well as other cross-functional partners including portfolio, regulatory, procurement/sourcing, commercial, etc. to develop a strategy to enter markets as early as possible for every potential Mylan product. Work with internal IP global colleagues and outside patent counsel (as necessary) to develop invalidity and non-infringement positions with respect to competitor/third party patents. Regularly monitor: (1) the status of competitor or other third-party patents and applications in assigned regions/countries and advise as necessary on the impact of such to Mylan; and (2) competitor/third party patent infringement litigations or other patent proceedings and advise on the impact of the same on Mylan's products and/or development activities. Counseling development teams towards the development/procurement of IP with respect to Mylan's innovative products including patentability analyses, brainstorming with development teams and drafting/prosecuting patent filings as necessary (with outside counsel assistance as necessary). Policing Mylan IP for infringement by third parties. Assist Counsel on due diligence investigations of companies and/or products in which Mylan is interested. Provide support to the Mylan Litigation team as necessary with respect to IP-related litigation. Assist Counsel on trademark clearance and procurement matters as necessary. Here are the minimum qualifications and essential functions for this position: A Juris Doctor degree required and a minimum of 5 years of experience is preferred. Related experience and/or education may be considered. Advanced degree(s) in applicable science(s) such as organic chemistry, biochemistry, or molecular biology are preferred. A minimum of 3 years of experience working in law firm or in-house-counsel with Intellectual Property required. Licensed to practice law in assigned region/country or licensed to practice before patent office in assigned region/country. Must possess a thorough knowledge, complete understanding and wide application of legal principles, theories and concepts in the IP field. Working knowledge of industry practices. General knowledge of other related disciplines. Special knowledge and experience in area of IP. Proficiency in speaking, comprehending, reading and writing English is required.
