Job Responsibilities and Requirements: The candidate will construct and oversee investment portfolios and deliver advice and guidance on markets to clients, as well as actionable investment ideas. To qualify, a candidate will need to understand and communicate the range of investment themes, products and services that Citi Private Bank offers to clients and have the ability to cultivate trusting & productive relationships with clients. The role will require a collaborative and team-oriented behavior, leverage a wide array of product and other specialists, as well as other divisions within Citigroup, to broaden investment relationships and add the most value to clients. The candidate will need to understand how to align products and other investment solutions with asset allocation targets, risk management parameters and the client s investment goals. The ISD - Investment Advisor will have specific targets for revenue growth, AUM growth as well as client calling activity. RELATIONSHIP MANAGEMENT Function as the primary client contact within investments for assigned clients working with the ISD. Including direct selling , determining suitability, identifying product specific opportunities, portfolio advice and after sales execution (in partnership with the Banker team) Present high-conviction ideas to clients Implement a strategic advisory approach to account planning, focusing on the investment relationship in partnership with the Banker Actively look for cross sell opportunities in others areas of the bank, in particular lending, trust and institutional markets solutions, etc. SUITABILITY, RISK MANAGEMENT & CONTROLS Understand the investment characteristics of assigned clients (i.e. return expectations, risk appetite, time horizon, liquidity needs, etc.). Ensure that positions are in line with client risk profiles. Minimize the client s and Private Bank s exposure to risk by observing suitability policies and by monitoring and communicating changes in the client s financial condition as well as industry and economic trends Observe suitability and credit polices at the point of client transactions for trade approval PORTFOLIO ADVICE Recommend strategic and tactical asset allocation in line with CPB s house view Coordinate the portfolio construction and implementation of investment mandates across all appropriate internal resources such as the Investment Lab, Capital Market Specialists, Managed Investment Specialists, etc. Uncover needs that are not clearly expressed by the client Be able to advice and influence clients, overcome objections and demonstrate the confidence to close significant business. COMMUNICATION Communicate complex technical details in a manner that is easily understood and consistent with the level of sophistication of the client or sales team member. Communicate as a partner to ensure that information flows effectively within the team Demonstrates resilience and ability to thrive and deliver results in a high pressure, global, rapidly changing and often ambiguous environment. ETHICAL CONDUCT The candidate will exemplify the highest standards of conduct in all their professional activities and will faithfully observe the letter and spirit of Citi s policies and principles. TECHNICAL REQUIREMENTS: Capital Markets Knowledge of and ability to communicate capital markets trades and strategies (. General knowledge of volatility and correlation driven strategies across asset classes Display broad base of execution skills, having successfully completed a range of capital markets transactions; able to place trades on behalf of the client Ability to distill Citi research into a coherent theme, trend or trade idea Ability to interpret markets from both a sentiment and valuation context Understand what drives valuation in different asset classes - FX, equities, credit, rates Knowledge of executing various balance sheet and financing strategies. A keen ability and focus on risk mitigation and hedging risk on behalf of the client Managed Investments Demonstrate a firm understanding of Managed Investments, with a strong ability to explain and implement asset allocation and individual asset classes with respect to their specific characteristics and within the context of a client portfolio. Some basic expertise in Private Equity, Real Estate, and Hedge Funds Ability to implement advisory and discretionary investment mandates. Articulate and advocate the house view of Citi and CPB, as well as the investments Citi recommends, while matching the appropriate investment opportunities with the client s profile. Travel Investment Advisors should expect to travel to their coverage region at least once a quarter. Minimum of Bachelor s degree. 3 years of client-facing experience in wealth management or related industries Series 7 Licensed Series 66 completed after 60 days CFA, CAIA, MBA degree or other advanced degree a plus. Spanish and/or Portuguese a plus.
