Job Responsibilities and Requirements: This position is responsible for transactional responsibilities as well as strategic contributions in the areas of Product Development, UW Guidelines and Governance, Rating/Pricing, Distribution, Fulfillment and Portfolio Financial Performance. The Travel Insurance industry provides a broad range of services and benefits for both domestic and international travelers; including, but not limited to trip cancellation, trip interruption, lost or damaged baggage and emergency medical or dental expenses; as well as travel assistance services. Services and benefits are made available to consumers through a variety of different channels, including, but not limited to travel agents, trip and tour operators, vacation clubs, airlines and online travel websites. Client Externally Focused - The job s core deliverables are predicated on delivering expertise, value and service to external customers and/or brokers. Typically involves building relationships and promoting the company.Our Underwriters are responsible for: Underwriting, analyzing and generating new and renewal Travel Insurance business Administering and monitoring underwriting rules and guidelines, insurance laws and regulations and rating manual rules Developing and maintaining relationships Working within broad limits and authorities on highly complex assignments Mentoring and providing technical guidance, assistance and training to junior underwriters Basic Qualifications: High School Diploma or Equivalent and 7 or more years of experience in the Underwriting or Market Facing area OR High School Diploma or Equivalent and 14 or more years of experience in the Claims or Underwriting Support area OR Zurich approved Apprenticeship program including an Associate Degree and 5 or more years of experience in the Underwriting or Market Facing area OR Zurich approved Apprenticeship program including an Associate Degree and 12 or more years of experience in the Claims or Underwriting Support area AND Experience with Microsoft Office Knowledge of Travel Insurance lines of business Preferred Qualifications: Bachelors Degree Advance knowledge of Travel Insurance lines of business Ability to effectively assess risk Strong knowledge of underwriting philosophy, techniques, national/local filing regulations and guidelines Strong negotiation skills Strong broker relationships Superior skills in relationship building, active listening, needs analysis, and win-win negotiating Possess knowledge of time restraints for quotes on new and renewal business Excellent oral and written communication skills Imagine working for a company that truly cares about their employees, customers, stakeholders, and communities they serve.
