Job Responsibilities and Requirements: The Discipline Estimator will be responsible for specific areas of the estimating and bidding process. The main areas of focus will be completion of a portion of an estimate in specific discipline of work, such as sitework & grading work, utility work, deep foundations, structural concrete, steel and precast erection, major bridge construction, and mechanical work. Discipline estimators report to the Chief Estimator Primary Responsibilities Required to develop project estimates meeting the requirements of the bid information Prepare estimates to ensure all factors are properly considered, priced, and included in the estimate summary Other duties will include performing site visits, job cost projections/audits and constructability studies Technical Specification review Quantity takeoffs Estimating direct items with correct crews, equipment, and productions Soliciting permanent material and subcontractor pricing Presenting estimate for management review in a neat and organized manner Closing out the estimate. Ability to work on multiple projects under tight deadlines. Ability to be part of team pulling complex technical project estimates together. Understanding of CPM Scheduling Proficient with the use of Microsoft Office, specifically Excel, and estimating software. Required Qualifications Civil Engineering Degree or equivalent Knowledge of the ACI and other industry specifications is beneficial, and ability to determine if drawings meet code requirements. Minimum of 10 years of field experience with Concrete & Structures, ideally as a crew supervisor - Foreman, General Foremen, or Superintendent (heavy industrial preferred). Minimum 5 years estimating experience including: Experience working with a group of estimators and showing ability to utilize group resources. Computer skills are a plus Microsoft Office programs (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Access, Outlook, etc. ), Bluebeam, Navisworks, AutoCAD, Revit, and general file management. Skilled in Blueprint reading, including but not limited to general arrangements, orthographics, plans and elevations, rebar detail drawings, topographic site and grading plans. Ability to read and interpret project specifications. Be able to conceptually visualize the general intent on incomplete drawings and be able to offer value engineering alternates.
