Job Responsibilities and Requirements: Directs and supervises activities of the Residential Real Estate Underwriting staff. Conducts underwriting review process in a manner designed to minimize the bank's risk while employing problem resolution techniques in approving loans within a residential construction loan underwriting environment. Provides support and training for all production staff and underwriting guidelines mostly related to the construction environment. Exercises credit authority to ensure mortgage loans are underwritten to established standards and regulatory requirements. Works within team environment to meet and/or exceed all goals and objectives, while providing the best customer service to customers looking to build a home (construction mortgage). Continually evaluates loan process to ensure maximum efficiency, high quality and excellent customer service. Conducts structured on-the-job training for new underwriters to ensure proper application of U.S. Bank s credit policies and to achieve lending authority status. Basic Qualifications - Bachelor's degree, or equivalent work experience - Five or more years of underwriting experience - Three or more years of supervisory experience Preferred Skills/Experience - Thorough understanding of all aspects of mortgage lending, servicing or operational policies and practices - Strong analytical and decision-making skills - Good organizational and project management skills - Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills - Proven supervisory and leadership skills, including well-developed knowledge of human resources functions Credit Underwriting.
