Job Responsibilities and Requirements: Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Acts as an unwavering advocate of goal deployment and lean six sigma methodologies as a means to improve quality, reduce cost, and improve the competitive position of the enterprise. Provides leadership, mentoring and support to employees to foster the development of continuous improvement within the L3 culture. Collaborates with leadership in the selection, prioritization and deployment of Lean Six Sigma projects and kaizen events. Identifies opportunities for improvement, develops a project plan for implementing improvements, and monitors the revised process to ensure it meets objectives. Provides training on the use of Lean / Continuous Improvement strategies, tools, and software. Conducts regularly scheduled project reviews to ensure the achievement of expected progress. Measures and monitors quality, cost reduction, and schedule metrics. Coordinates, collects, and reports LSS project results for the organization. Leads and manages multiple business-critical projects (DMAIC projects/Kaizen events) within the organization. Conducts advanced data collection and analysis for process mapping, develops budgets and performs cost analysis to determine project feasibility. Facilitates value stream mapping to define Current State and transition to Future State in support of project teams. Recommends training programs and interacts with external and internal trainers. Interfaces with customer, government, and industry Continuous Improvement personnel to represent L3 in assessments and benchmarking activities. Travels to L3, customer, and supplier facilities as required, with an estimated average of 25% travel required on an annual basis. Performs other Quality/Continuous Improvement actions as assigned. Education and/or Experience: BA/BS degree in a technical discipline is required. Masters degree in a technical discipline and/or Management is preferred. Ten years of progressive experience in Quality and/or Continuous Improvement is required. Lean Six Sigma Black Belt certification required. Working knowledge of statistical analysis software (i.e. Minitab) and Microsoft Office products is required. Experience with ISO 9001 and/or AS9100 Quality Management Systems is required. ASQ Certification (Mgr/OE, LSBB, or CQE) is an asset. Other Skills and Abilities: Familiarity with i-Nexus Strategic Goal Deployment software is preferred. The ability to learn new software solutions quickly and teach others is critical. The ability to understand financial returns and calculate ROI on projects is essential. Excellent verbal and written communication skills, and strong project management skills are essential. Must be capable of working independently with minimal direct oversight. Must be capable of motivating functional leaders and LSS practitioners towards an analytical/critical thought process. Must have the ability to translate strategy into actionable plans & drive change through influence.
