Job Responsibilities and Requirements: A primary responsibility of the Chief Enterprise Architect is to actively define all architectural and technical requirements related to the building permit process and determines any exception requests to the defined architecture policies and practices across the enterprise. This leadership position directs the development and implementation of strategic and operational objectives for systems architecture in accordance to CNA's strategic plans. The position also determines the skills and resource requirements needed for the work to be performed within the enterprise architecture group and manages that group to ensure the proper architecture skills and resources are available for CNA needs. Essential Duties & Responsibilities Partners with the Chief Technology Officer (CTO) to build and ultimately be responsible for driving the implementation of strategic and operational IT architecture objectives with significant impact on the short-term and long-term success of systems and infrastructure architecture. Develops and ensures enterprise IT architecture standards, guidelines, policies, and procedures for infrastructure, data interchange, and common applications are used in conjunction with the overall enterprise architecture strategy and target IT architecture. Accountable for the most complex architecture escalation issues for application development and infrastructure and is responsible for allocating architecture authority levels to all staff within the IT architecture group. Works with other IT functions in helping to strategically rationalize IT applications in accordance with the target IT architecture. Collaborates with peers (Strategic Engagement Leaders primarily) and business stakeholders on both strategic and tactical solutions in support of business needs and direction. Develops and maintains strategic relationships with key partners and technology vendors. Researches and recommends technology and business process solutions to transform the business and give the company competitive advantage in alignment with strategic direction. Researches and implements new technologies in partnership with other IT teams and recommends new patterns of technology to apply to the company's business challenges. Leads, directs and manages accountability for architecture resources with an emphasis on talent management and succession planning in accordance with the IT strategic direction. Collaborates with all internal IT functions to promote use of technologies, receive feedback and guide teams to assist in business alignment with technologies. Manages appropriate vendor relationships and acts as liaison between internal teams and external senior management ? ensuring that architecture standards and guidelines are adhered to. May perform additional duties as assigned. Reporting RelationshipChief Technology Officer Skills, Knowledge & Abilities Senior level knowledge of the insurance industry, its products and services. Expert knowledge of all the major trends in architecture, including relevant best practices so CNA can proactively use new technology as a competitive advantage. Advanced technical expertise with practical, hands on experience in IT architecture to handle the most complex architecture programs and the ability to develop complex IT target architectures. Solid ability to effectively interact with and influence all levels of internal and external business partners and customers. Strong ability to build and maintain an in-depth understanding of business process and products across IT and establish strong working relationships with IT leadership. Expert experience promoting the use of knowledge management and knowledge sharing tools for architecture across IT. Strong Leadership and management skills demonstrating integrity and professionalism. Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and other business-related software. Education & Experience Bachelor's degree with Master's preferred in Computer Science or Information Systems, or related discipline or equivalent. Typically a minimum of 12 years of work experience in software development with seven years management experience. Minimum 5 years architecting high-scale, high performance, and distributed applications. Applicable certifications preferred.
