Job Responsibilities and Requirements: The Facilities Services Department (FS) is committed to creating an exceptional campus physical environment to support the research, teaching, health care and community service mission of the University. FS employs over 400 professional staff and acts as steward for over $90 million in operating funds to achieve its goals in operating and maintaining the UCSF campus environment. Located in the Campus Life Services organization, FS is organized into five distinct units: (1) Mission Bay/East Campus Facilities Operations, (2) Parnassus/West Campus Facilities Operations, (3) Infrastructure & Utilities Services, (4) Customer Service & Technology, and (5) Strategic Organization Development. FS participates in system-wide Principles of Community and all FS leaders are expected to create a fair, equitable, safe and supportive work environment where everyone can do their best work. FS leaders have a shared accountability for the overall success of the operation and the creation of a high performance work environment. Required Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent experience Five years of experience as a journey-level security access & control technician, advanced lock smith and mechanical access control Two years of supervisory experience or equivalent in the field of security access & control, and lock shop operations Skills to ensure quality standards are met and to actively promote and maintain safety standards Skills to use a computer for recordkeeping and documentation of repairs and maintenance Skills to effectively participate in the selection and evaluation of staff and to appropriately handle disciplinary issues Knowledge of all applicable building codes, safety requirements, and general maintenance policies and procedures Proficiency in the use of CMMS - or similar- software Working knowledge of the methods, materials, tools, and equipment used in the lock shop, key-cutting and security access and control trades Ability to read and interpret blueprints, plans, and specifications Ability to communicate clearly verbally and in writing, and work cooperatively with vendors and with university faculty and staff and campus visitors Ability to plan, schedule, and estimate projects Ability to supervise and conduct operating tests on system components, assuring that required adjustments or corrections are made for proper functioning Ability to supervise work in progress and inspect completed assignments to insure that satisfactory progress, work quality, operating procedures, efficiency, safety and other work standards are being satisfactorily met and maintained Ability to administer and enforce departmental policies, work rules, rules of conduct, performance standards, University policies, procedures, etc. among assigned employees Note: Physical/health screening, fingerprinting and background check required. Preferred Qualifications Bachelor s degree in facilities, construction management or related field Technical/vocational certification in a related building trade General Knowledge of laboratories and research environments License/Certification N/A.
