Job Responsibilities and Requirements: Work of work assignments may include inspection of structures, earthwork, stabilized sub-grade and asphalt paving. Will also be responsible for preparing detailed, accurate reports of the work consistently on time and performing tests on materials in strict conformance with testing procedures is critical to success in this position. Must document, in detail, daily activities and be able to keep track of quantities for payment. Must collect required materials documentation from the contractor on a daily basis. Must be reliable and able to work independently. Experience Must have some experience as a roadway or structures technician and have hands on experience with construction materials testing on NCDOT projects. Work experience with a record of dependability is required. Former members of the military are encouraged to apply. Skills Must have good basic math, writing and reading abilities. Must be physically able to lift testing equipment weighing as much as 30 pounds and walk up and down slopes and be able to communicate effectively with others and the general public. Should have working knowledge of computers/iPads. Must be dependable and able to complete work tasks every time with minimum oversight by supervisor. Must be able to get along and work productively with others including other KCI and NCDOT technicians, contractor personnel and the public. Degrees / Licenses (R)equired - (P)referred A degree is not required but an AAS or certificate in engineering or surveying technology or a BS in a technical field of study is a plus. Current certifications in erosion control, asphalt, concrete and/or soil density are a big plus. Other Pre-employment drug testing is required as a condition of employment. Must have valid driver's license and a clear driving record.
