Job Responsibilities and Requirements: Intellectual Property Attorney (Job Number:430344) DESCRIPTION: SAIC has an excellent opportunity in its Office of General Counsel for a hands-on, dedicated, experienced intellectual property (IP) attorney to serve as a valued business partner in protecting and advancing the company's IP interests. The ideal candidate will have an understanding of the unique aspects of IP in the government contracting space, experience working with the FAR/DFARS, and knowledge of how SAIC can best use, develop, and manage IP to meet its business objectives. Superior technical IP expertise , strong analytical and problem-solving skills, skills in integrating legal advice with business acumen and sound judgment, ability to prioritize workload to optimize service, strong initiative and attention to detail, a commitment to teamwork and possession of excellent interpersonal and writing skills are also required. Responsibilities include regularly advising a variety of internal clients on a wide range of IP matters in the context of contracts with customers and suppliers; evaluating inventions and managing patent prosecution and trademark registration; providing input on the company's IP strategy and portfolio management; counseling on copyrights, trade secrets, and other IP matters; assisting with IP-related due diligence in acquisitions; and strategically educating and supporting fellow employees. Qualifications : MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: J.D. from an accredited law school and licensed to practice by a state bar. Admission to the patent bar is a plus but not required. A technical undergraduate degree or technical non-law experience is preferred. Five to eight years practice experience in IP law, preferably as an in-house counsel for a government contractor and/or representing corporations in private practice in the government contracting space.
