Job Responsibilities and Requirements: The Chief of Staff will provide critical strategic thought and leadership surrounding areas of strategy, talent management, process management, and project management. As the Commercial Bank is comprised of multiple businesses and partners, the Chief of Staff provides a critical link and will be expected to liaise across Capital Markets, the Commercial Bank, and the broader enterprise. The candidate will possess a strong intellect and have a proven track record of supporting and working with a senior management team. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 5-7 years of related experience in financial services with commercial banking experience preferred. Critical to the new Chief of Staff s success in the short-term will be his/her ability to hit the ground running, focus on critical A-level priorities, and earn the confidence and trust of the Capital Markets Leadership Team. The Ideal Candidate will demonstrate a balance of optimism, leadership, strategic thinking, and business/operations skills. They will be able to help support the development and execution of the Capital Markets strategy and agenda, within a matrixed and geographically diverse organization against near-term and multi-year strategic improvements. They will exhibit excellent people leadership skills to leverage the capabilities of peers, business partners, and associates, along with the confidence to effectively influence the Capital Markets Leadership Team. Strong business judgment, communication abilities, and analytical skills are essential. Responsibilities Strategic Planning Define Capital Markets Objectives annually and for a longer time horizon Partner with leadership, influencing lines of business to continue to move organization forward, creating additional Capital Markets opportunities Partner with applicable teams to expand product suite, as applicable Support executive presentations, ranging from board meetings to new hires Process Management Develop and implement organizational processes to ensure Capital Markets meets business and company deliverables in an efficient manner Establish and maintain management routines to ensure the effectiveness of the Head of Capital Markets and Capital Markets Proactively lead organization to develop and deliver on business as usual processes that would exist in more mature organizations Partner with various Technology, Risk Management, and Finance organizations to deliver a profitable and well-managed organization Project Management Prioritize, organize, and support initiatives that balance the competing interests of internal and external stakeholders As new projects arise, work with leadership to determine feasibility, project and implementation plan Serve as a conduit, as needed, with partner groups Talent Management Create a positive environment for associates and clients Expand organization expectations for talent throughout the associate experience Partner with Human Resources to move the organization forward and enhance talent throughout the organization Manage associate engagement programs Partner with Communications to ensure proper context is delivered to associates and across departments Partner with Workplace Solutions to ensure a productive work environment, appropriate workspace and facilities, and smooth execution of space moves Basic Qualifications: Either a Bachelor s Degree or Military Experience Preferred Qualifications: Ability to build a trusted advisor relationship with the Head of Capital Markets Strong business judgment, influencing skills, leadership and integrity are essential for this position. Must possess a high EQ and be a collaborative team player who enjoys working with, and as part of, a larger group; open and honest with peers and superiors Experience serving in a Chief of Staff or critical project management role in a large, complex, and matrixed financial services company Grasps finance issues with ease and has a solid understanding of Capital Markets and Commercial Banking Able to develop and maintain a macro-level view of the capital markets strategy, while taking a pragmatic and action-oriented approach that is geared toward execution and delivering results Willingness to learn Strong facilitation, negotiation and mediation skills; inspires an organization of open-exchange and collaboration Strong organizational and follow-through. Meticulous attention to detail. Excellent written and verbal communication skills Self-starter with a natural proactive energy; takes initiative, has motivation and endurance to work in an evolving, growth-oriented, fast-paced environment Confident to champion unpopular ideas, even with more senior leaders Courageous - not afraid of tackling large, complicated issues and asking tough questions Naturally curious; well-read Comfortable operating, in large part, behind the scenes; humble enough to give others credit Has discretion in handling highly sensitive issues At this time.
