Job Responsibilities and Requirements: The successful candidate will work with the business to build and purposefully prosecute the associated worldwide patent portfolio and strategy. This includes identifying patentable inventions; securing high quality patents; providing technical and legal analysis; developing patent strategies; managing patent challenges; supporting patent transactions & licensing, and working with engineering and other business organizations to understand their priorities and challenges. This position also includes supporting due diligence, IP enforcement, standards, open source software participation and litigation activities. Education The successful candidate is a registered patent agent or attorney with a minimum of 4 years experience in patent preparation, prosecution and management. A degree in EE or CS required. Key Qualifications Experience in the areas of drafting and prosecuting patent assets as well as in developing patent strategies and conducting associated patent analysis and patent-related due diligence to support transactions and licensing. Must communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing. A EE/CS background is required and industrial software development experience is desirable. Experience with supervision and direction of others in drafting patent applications is a plus. Strongly preferred are candidates with experience in technologies supporting current and next generation user interfaces, ideally including speech and natural language processing and voice driven systems. Experience with machine learning systems is a plus.
