Applicants are sought the position of Senior Scientist in the Vaccine Bioprocess Research and Development group with company Research Labs. The select candidate will conduct high impact intellectual property (IP) development. In this role, the Senior Scientist is expected to: - Be the primary IP contact within the Vaccine Process Development, Vaccine Drug Product Development or Vaccine Analytical Development groups. - Identify and propose patent ideas on novel analytics, and/or processes for fermentation/cell culture and purification ofdrug substances, and/or processes for the formulation and delivery of vaccine drug products. - Collaborate with colleagues across company , including Commercialization and Tech Ops groups, to generate patentable ideas and data. - Working with analytical leads, process leads, and attorneys from company Patent group, plan, facilitate, and execute experiments to support invention disclosure IP submissions, - Assist with the laboratory-scale production or analysis of drug substance or drug product materials to enable IP development. - Assist inventors, analytical leads, and process leads to convert innovative ideas to experiments, gather and review the relevant experimental data, draft and submit invention disclosure memos, conduct searches on prior publications, and refine draft patent applications. QUALIFICATIONS Education: - BS degree with a minimum of 7 years of relevant experience OR MS degree with a minimum of 4 years of relevant experience OR PhD degree in Chemistry, Biology, Biochemistry, Biological Sciences, Biochemical Engineering, Chemical Engineering or equivalent. REQUIRED: - Attention to detail and strong written and oral communication skills are essential. - Strong technical problem solving and creative thinking skills - A minimum of 2 years of hands-on experience in at least one of the following areas: fermentation/cell culture, purification, lyophilization, formulation, or analytical development. - Self-motivated, able to demonstrate organizational skills, results-oriented, and able to deliver against tight timelines. Ability to work independently and/or in a team environment. - Strong understanding of patent application drafting and filing processes. PREFERRED: - Scientists with 2 years of experience working with attorneys drafting patent applications. - PhD degree with publications in peer-reviewed journals or patent application publications.
