Job Responsibilities and Requirements: Accountabilities: Provides strategic leadership for research in a learning health system, including the identification of opportunities to support priorities and gaps, the development of projects to answer critical questions, the translation and dissemination of findings to practice, and evaluation and spread following implementation. Guides the research division to be high-performing in all aspects of its work, including grant development, research project execution, compliance and integrity, budget and resource management, and other administrative functions. Ensures that the Institute has appropriate capabilities, personnel and resources to support its priorities. Ensures that strategic and annual plans for research focus areas and support functions are aligned with the strategic and annual plans of the Institute and Actively participates in short and long-range financial planning for the Institute; implements policies and strategies that support a sustainable financial model for research. Fosters a culture of integrity, compliance and ethical conduct. Supervises research investigators; ensures that all personnel management functions are successfully performed and provides leadership in mentoring and developing direct reports and staff in a manner which emphasizes the importance of teamwork, collaboration and the sharing of information, resources and best practices across the Institute. Develops and maintains effective relationships with leaders across the Institute, fostering the alignment and integration of Institute capabilities in support of priorities. Develops and maintains effective relationships with leaders across to ensure research is providing value to our mission and vision. Develops and maintains effective relationships with local and national research partners and funders for collaboration opportunities. Required Qualifications: MD or PhD Minimum of 10 years' experience in research with a publication track record Leadership experience, preferably to the senior leadership level. Demonstrates sound business judgment by operating effectively in a shared decision-making culture and highly matrixed organizations Demonstrated ability to develop constructive working relationships and partnerships with both operational leaders and physician/clinicians Excellent interpersonal skills (negotiation, listening and communications skills) characterized by effective interactions with a diverse range of internal and external customers, stakeholders and audiences. Excellent verbal, presentation, and written communication skills.
