Job Responsibilities and Requirements: Primarily responsible for serving as senior financial leader for the rural hospitals managed by in Northwest Kansas and will be based in Atwood, Goodland & Oakley, Kansas supporting those communities. . The regional CFO is an integral member of the senior management team at each hospital and provides financial leadership, analysis, and operational support to all levels of management. The regional CFO participates in regional network development and leadership activities, is responsible for setting overall financial policies and procedures for the regional network, and is ultimately responsible for accounting and finance functions. In addition to serving as Regional CFO in NW Kansas, this position provides financial leadership, analysis, education, and advisory support to all rural hospitals operated by, and affiliated with, in Colorado and Kansas. The Regional CFO reports to the Vice President of Rural Health with a matrix reporting structure to the Group CFO of the Greater Colorado & Kansas Operating Group. This includes, but is not limited to, oversight of the following functions: Monthly financial statement preparation process Preparation of operating and capital budgets and monitoring performance against budget Capital expenditure and depreciation process & required reporting Maintaining appropriate internal controls Revenue cycle management Patient financial services Charge master review and updates Development of, and compliance with, financial policies and procedures Contractual allowances and Bad debt allowances Annual audit preparation and support Banking relations Cost reporting Work with senior management and boards of each NW Kansas hospital as well as VP of Rural Health and Operating Group CFO to develop financial goals and objectives for the hospitals and the regional network Participate as a member of the NW Kansas regional network leadership team and actively engage in network development activities, including providing financial direction for regional structure Understand, support, and provide regional oversight for supply chain management/GPO program Maintain a thorough working knowledge of federal, state, and payer-specific payment methodologies Maintain a high level of expertise and working knowledge of CMS and other federal regulations and statutes such as Critical Access Hospital and Rural Health Clinic conditions of participation and reimbursement, EMTALA, Medicare fraud and abuse, Stark/Antitrust legislation, and IRS guidelines Support operating group management by analyzing operating performance, identifying improvement opportunities, and determining actions to be taken to meet performance targets Provide sound guidance, training, and education to all rural hospitals and Rural Health Clinics in the Centura network regarding financial management, reimbursement, compliance, billing & collections, financial trends, and other related topics Conduct special projects as assigned by operating group leadership team.
