Job Responsibilities and Requirements: Duties & Responsibilities Assist with all aspects of U.S. and international trademark matters Prepare and electronically file U.S. trademark applications, including drafting descriptions of goods and services Prepare and electronically file U.S. copyright applications Identify and obtain appropriate trademark and copyright specimens Prepare and electronically file Extensions of Time, Statements of Use, Assignments, Responses to Office Actions, post-registration documents, Oppositions and other standard trademark prosecution and maintenance documents; manage foreign trademark prosecution and maintenance matters Draft correspondence to clients requesting instructions or reporting on the status of their trademark matters Draft correspondence to foreign associates Assist with investigation of third party use and registration of marks; review watch notices Compile and prepare exhibits and evidence Maintain, update and verify data in trademark docketing system and assist with document management and file maintenance Prepare charts and reports outlining the status of trademark and copyright protection Research Trademark Manual of Examining Procedure (TMEP) and TTAB Manual of Procedure (TBMP) to determine procedural requirements, as necessary Conduct research on U.S. and international trademark and copyright law as requested Manage special projects as assigned Perform other related duties as needed or assigned Requirements Requirements Paralegal certificate from an ABA accredited program (Bachelor s Degree is a plus) Four (4) years of trademark paralegal experience preferred Must be highly motivated, versatile and adaptable; possess excellent writing, communication, interpersonal, research, teamwork, client service, and organization skills; exceptional attention to detail and accuracy; and ability to follow up, follow through, handle multiple projects simultaneously, assess shifting priorities, achieve solutions and solve problems under deadlines, and work independently with minimal supervision. Strong computer proficiency is a must, with particular knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, CT Corsearch, USPTO databases, and similar trademark research tools and trademark docketing software. Experience with all aspects of USPTO and TTAB trademark work and electronic filings (prosecution, maintenance and opposition and cancellation proceedings) Flexibility regarding work schedule to meet position needs outside of regular business hours Trademark search and clearance experience, knowledge of global trademark laws and procedures, due diligence, patent, copyright and domain name protection experience is a plus.
