Job Responsibilities and Requirements: We are seeking a professional like you to lead a team responsible for the management of multiple capital and/or expense construction projects of various sizes and complexity including constructing new facilities, modifications/improvements to existing facilities and major expansions. You will coordinate duties of self and other construction engineers and/or contract inspectors as well as providing the guidance, coordination and necessary communication to the contractor providing field services. You will also provide technical expertise and consulting in the conception, authorization, design, contract bidding/development, and construction phases of capital projects as well as for maintenance problems or projects. Functionally reports to the Site Turnaround and Maintenance Director. You will also: - Administer and direct team of construction engineers and self in order to achieve project goals. - Serve as the BASF interface to the Construction contractors. - Mentor and develop team of construction engineers. - Continually inspect the work of Contractors and skilled trades groups to assure that job schedules are maintained and that work is being performed safely and per design specifications. - Conducts or participates in meetings involving contractors bidding on contracts. Responsible for site visits, interprets bidding specifications, explains 's security and safety regulations, and arranges personnel and equipment clearances to ensure that Contractors have been informed on all aspects of the project. - In cooperation with Project Managers and Engineers, authorizes and makes necessary field changes. Must be constantly vigilant to ensure that quantity and quality of materials, equipment and contract labor meet specifications. - Maintains close liaison and check on contractors to make sure that they fully understand the scope of the work and to keep claims for extra compensation down to a minimum. In general, must be extremely cost conscious to obtain maximum value with maximum economy for the Corporation or construction projects. - Checks invoices to validate accurate with respect to work performance and/or equipment delivered, and recommends approval for payment. QUALIFICATIONS - BASF RECOGNIZES INSTITUTIONS OF HIGHER EDUCATION WHICH ARE ACCREDITED BY THE COUNCIL FOR HIGHER EDUCATION ACCREDITATION OR EQUIVALENT Formula for Success - Leveraging your educational background in an Engineering discipline or related technical field, as well as your extensive professional experience with chemical/petrochemical plant construction techniques and demonstrated knowledge of various engineering design disciplines you will lead a team responsible for the management of multiple capital and/or expense construction projects of various sizes. - Your familiarity of quality control techniques and their application in the construction industry will ensure that project objectives are obtained. - Your general knowledge of project execution and the ability to manage non-technical phases of construction (i.e. planning and scheduling, receiving and handling systems, etc).
