Job Responsibilities and Requirements: Key Responsibilities GAAP & Regulatory Reporting for Broker-Dealers - As the Financial and Operations Principal and the CFO for Nationwide Securities LLC and Nationwide Investment Services Corp, this leader establishes the vision and ensures the accurate and timely execution for annual audited financial statements, quarterly/monthly financial statements (as required), other regulatory statements and detailed review of accounting operations, which requires setting strategic direction with each stakeholder, information provider and KPMG. Also required to present at least bi-annually to the Board of Directors for the Broker/Dealers and quarterly to the Compliance Committee. Leader also closely monitors the net capital position of the entities and requests capital. NF Accounting Operations - Works in strong partnership with the NF finance team, various Controllership teams and other business partners in ensuring that established accounting operational processes are maintained (and enhanced as necessary) for all the NFS legal entities, including the life insurance companies, Bank, IMG and broker-dealers. Collaborates and influences numerous business partners (e.g., OCLO, Reinsurance, NF CFO s, FSSC, FRAP, Treasury, and M&A and their staff s) as the finance and accounting expert related to NF-level business activity. External Auditor Management- Manages the relationship on each broker/dealer audit by resolving outstanding audit issues (both with and internal business partners across the organization), identifying appropriate accounting guidance interpretations and setting the strategic direction for operationalizing new disclosures and reporting requirements. Interacts with senior and Nationwide leadership to set the overall direction and plan for the respective staff s to execute against. Financial Reporting Controls - Oversee the compliance and monitoring processes of applicable financial reporting controls. Informs the CAO, NF CFO, NF Controller, other BU Controllers and other interested parties of important developments and decisions. Ensure the complete and accurate transition of new financial results and businesses into Nationwide s financial reporting processes. Ensure that required Model Audit Rule and FINRA requirements are met to validate appropriate controls over financial reporting. Management/Leadership - Establish and drive functional area vision, strategy and objectives; oversee and lead associate management to include performance management, talent management, engagement, salary planning and administration, development and talent acquisition. Trains and leads a team of highly technical accountants to ensure execution. Performs other duties as assigned. Typical Skills and Experiences Education/Certification/Licenses: Undergraduate degree - accounting degree preferred; CPA license strongly preferred; FINRA Series 27 (Financial and Operations Principal Examination) is needed to serve as the FINOP for the Broker/Dealers, but certification can be achieved once in the role. Experience/Skills: Minimum 9 years of experience in accounting, reporting and accounting operations. Significant insurance and/or financial services experience is preferred. Proven relationship building and leadership skills appropriate for working with senior management across Nationwide and externally (regulatory agencies, KPMG, etc.), intellectual and organizational skills necessary to function in a dynamic financial environment. Relationship management skills to influence and collaborate across many areas of the organization. Must be able to direct the supervision and training of employees in financial analysis, reporting and process development. Must have well-developed oral and written communication, with an emphasis on organizational sensitivity. Other criteria, including leadership skills, competencies and experiences may take precedence. Staffing exceptions to the above must be approved by the hiring manager s leader and HR Business Partner.
