Job Responsibilities and Requirements: The Senior Director / Executive Director, Business Finance provides department oversight and develops finance strategies, policies, and procedures. Provides strategic direction and decision-making support to senior leadership to achieve financial and business objectives. Role can be office-based in Philadelphia, PA or Wilmington, NC area. Manages staff, which may include interviewing and selection, job description preparation, professional development, goal setting, performance management, coaching and mentoring, employee counseling, and separations. Approves courses of action on salary administration, hiring, corrective action, and terminations. Reviews and approves time records, expense reports, requests for leave, and overtime. Provides status of the financial condition of the company by collecting, interpreting and reporting key financial data. Consults with senior management on financial matters and advises on actions and potential risks. Ensures the organization's financial activities are conducted accurately, ethically, consistently and according to relevant regulations, laws, and standards. May serve as a finance business partner or finance lead to one or more business units, functions or client groups. Develops advanced financial models, establishes key financial metrics, and prepares reports and presentations. Oversees and directs the streamlining of processes, systems and standardized reporting. Leads finance teams, operational management and cross functional teams to ensure a high standard of internal financial controls and procedures. Manages budget and controls expenses effectively. Education and Experience: Bachelors degree or equivalent and relevant formal academic / vocational qualification (Masters degree /MBA preferred) Previous experience that provides the knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the job (comparable to 12-15 years) or equivalent and relevant combination of education, training, & experience. 5 years of management responsibility Strong leadership skills CRO/Pharma experience preferred Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Excellent leadership and team building skills Strong business acumen with ability to understand complex organizational structures and environments Expert knowledge of approved accounting/financial practices Excellent analytical and quantitative skills Advanced level of skill in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint for analysis and presentation of data Ability to work with ambiguity and complexity Demonstrated executive presence and strong presentation skills Ability to influence at all levels of the organization Excellent communication skills both written and verbal Excellent interpersonal skills Ability to multi-task and handle pressure Management Role: Directs through lower management levels. Has responsibility for managing a function that includes multiple related departments. In some instances may be responsible for a functional area (as determined by executive management) and not have subordinate supervisors or employees. May manage employees across multiple regions. Working Conditions and Environment: Work is performed in an office environment with exposure to electrical office equipment. Occasional drives to site locations, frequent travels both domestic and international. Long, varied hours may be required. Physical Requirements: Frequently stationary for 6-8 hours per day. Repetitive hand movement of both hands with the ability to make fast, simple, repeated movements of the fingers, hands, and wrists.Moderate mobility required. Occasional crouching, stooping, bending and twisting of upper body and neck. Light to moderate lifting and carrying (or otherwise moves) objects including luggage and laptop computer with a maximum lift of 15-20 lbs. Ability to access and use a variety of computer software developed both in-house and off-the-shelf. Ability to communicate complex information and ideas so others will understand; with the ability to listen to and understand information and ideas presented through spoken words and sentences. Frequently interacts with others, relates sensitive information to diverse groups both internally & externally. Ability to apply abstract principles to solve complex conceptual issues. Requires multiple periods of intense concentration. Performs a wide range of complex tasks as dictated by variable demands and changing conditions with little predictability as to the occurrence. Ability to perform under stress. Ability to multi-task. Regular and consistent attendance.
