Job Responsibilities and Requirements: This position will also be a key stakeholder and partner to the Marketing, Programming, Research, Ad Sales, and Technology organizations. This position will have primary responsibility for distilling client/partner priorities and combining them with data driven insights to create comprehensive decision support solutions across all Turner's platforms - on-air, online and mobile. Responsibilities include but are not limited to:Work collaboratively with colleagues in ad sales, ad distribution, research and sales strategic planning functions to translate the 'go-to-market' strategies into execution plans for new decision support systems and audience insight strategies. Ensure the creation and fulfillment of execution plans to architect, build and/or purchase/license products, systems and platforms that effectively support the delivery of competitive and innovative systems and solutions (across Turner properties and platforms including linear, on-line and mobile channels) that leverage data sciences. Develop products that capture estimated $100 Million dollars in liability reduction opportunity and revenue maximization driven by improved efficiency of ad delivery to target audiences. These products will enable the automation of spot placements (Spot Scheduler), minimization of liability, optimize placement of under delivery units, optimize the allocation of brand advertiser ad units, maximize the revenue of scatter inventory, and generate liability rate card forecasts using competitive set and consumer choice concepts. Protect the intellectual property generated by these products by filing appropriate patents. Lead and provide oversight in the creation and on-going evolution of Turner's overall data sciences team and decision support strategy. Provide appropriate recommendations and feedback to senior executive management about ad sales and data solutions. Facilitate cross-departmental collaboration and work with executive peers in Turner's ad sales and distribution teams, research, brands and other technology teams to assure that resources are properly aligned with our businesses' strategic priorities. Set up a sustainable system to enlist feedback from key stakeholders about priorities and team's performance. Establish, track, communicate, and leverage meaningful metrics to measure efficiency and effectiveness. Ensure resources within data and decision sciences team are representing Turner's interests in the most relevant professional organizations related to data/audience insights and decision support systems. Maintain relevant relationships within the academic community in support of Turner's technical innovation and recruiting efforts. Collaborate with other Turner colleagues to develop, maintain and present a consistent Turner position within the industry about data and decision support standards. Help lead and evangelize Turner's data strategic initiatives, mission, and values. Effectively manage employee performance and discipline issues, and hold direct reports / managers accountable for same. Provide guidance around compensation, recognition, transfer, promotion, or other employee-related decisions. Assure that company policies and practices are followed, and set an example for team members. Work with business operations and finance executives to establish and maintain budgetary control and accountability. Continually identify and implement cost and productivity improvements while maintaining consistent quality to meet business objectives. Play an integral role in the company's strategic direction, development, and future growth. Lead Data Sciences direction and roadmap. Utilize ingenuity and inventive thinking to evaluate options for design and deriving the best solutions based on sound analytical judgment, team input and the customers' best interest. Develop effective relationships with key business customers and industry leaders in order to cultivate the market intelligence necessary to shape Data Sciences. Anticipate and react to major technology changes to ensure the maintenance of company leadership in the competitive landscape. Participate in relevant organizations. Form a close and collaborative relationship with senior executives, research, ad sales, products and development teams to translate Data Sciences intelligence into winning corporate strategies. Qualifications: At least 15 years' experience in the decision science space- At least 6 in a leadership role - Director - Proven record of building effective and collaborative working relationships across all dimensions - peer, subordinate, superior, clients, etc.- Demonstrated experience in delivering on customer expectations. - Demonstrated understanding and experience with advertising sales for the cable industry, with particular focus on optimizing revenue streams.- Demonstrated knowledge of budgetary processes.Demonstrated knowledge of and experience with linear television, digital and mobile media, and related technologies. Working knowledge of sales planning, traffic systems and related applications.- Demonstrated knowledge of and experience with data collection and usage practices within television, digital and mobile media, and related technologies.- Demonstrated experience influencing and coordinating the efforts of multiple functional teams under different reporting structures.- Demonstrated experience with the tools, practices and approaches used in data science - for example, SAS, R, Matlab, CPLEX, etc.- Masters or Ph.D. degree in Operations Research, Statistics, Econometrics or related Advanced Science curriculum is essential.
