Job Responsibilities and Requirements: Responsibilities and Duties Reviewing and managing dockets for deadlines. Creating new and updating existing records in IP management systems. Reviewing and following-up on docket deadlines and activities with attorneys, agents, and outside counsel. Preparing for and completing electronic filing in the USPTO and WIPO. Drafting shells for patent prosecution documents for filing at various patent offices, including but not limited to: responses to missing parts, responses to restriction requirements; responses to office actions; information disclosure statements; transmittal forms; formal documents. Recording expenses and fees in time management software. Working closely with patent practitioners to provide administrative support as requested. Corresponding with clients, service providers, legal counsel, inventors, and foreign associates in a timely and courteous manner. Qualifications and Skills Comfortable in a paperless environment with electronic only patent files. 2+ years of experience, a Bachelor s degree, and/or paralegal certificate. Strong technical skills, attention to detail and accuracy, and excellent oral and written communication skills. Familiarity with the USPTO website (e.g., EFS-Web, PAIR), ePCT, and AppColl. Familiarity with or willingness to learn Dropbox, Trello, LucidChart, Harvest, and HelloSign is also desirable. Familiarity with the patent application process including preparing patent applications, responding to office actions, and at least a basic understanding of patent legal matters. Team player with proven ability to work with diverse teams of inventors/engineers. Can self-direct, manage, and motivate. Takes personal ownership and responsibility for driving results and achieving milestones. Benefits 1099 contractor, remote work, part-time (with potential for full-time as company grows).
