Job Responsibilities and Requirements: The Construction Inspector(s) will inspect the work of contractors and coordinate surveying and testing needs on infrastructure projects for MDOT, Counties, Cities, and private agencies or owners. The selected candidate(s) will report to and receive work assignment from the Senior Inspector or the Project/Resident Engineer, or lead tasks independently. WSP has proven to be a world leader in transportation engineering by consistently providing quality services in planning, design, construction management, and program management for a multitude of clients across the globe. Duties and Responsibilities: Bring a positive attitude to work with WSP staff to provide quality projects for our clients and build positive relationships with them. Inspect transportation construction activities performed by contractors. This includes reviewing work to be in conformance with the plans, specifications, and cost estimates. Communicate with all project personnel including contractors, WSP staff, other consultants, testers, surveyors, MDOT, clients etc. Create complete IDRs that document all on site activities Create computation sheets to support pay items on IDRs Attend meetings Work in a variety of weather conditions Possibly work nights and weekends - depending on projects. If this sounds like a fit for you, we d love to have that first discussion of you joining our team Job Requirements Education Required: High School Diploma or equivalent Required Civil Engineering Technology Associates Degree or equivalent Ability to measure and compute lengths, areas, and volumes Experience Qualifications: A minimum of 2 years or related experience preferred. Must have a valid driver s license in the state of Michigan. Preferred Qualifications Bachelors Degree in Construction Management Fieldbook/Field Manager training desired but not required Any MDOT/FHWA/Association Certifications Materials Testing experience Land surveying experience.
