Job Responsibilities and Requirements: Under direction with latitude for independent judgment and action and within established policies and procedure as follows: Perform all tasks necessary for the protection of property and safety of personnel. Respond to emergencies and determine corrective action using available resources. Perform all tasks necessary for optimal and efficient equipment/systems operation. Perform all tasks necessary for the preservation and longevity of all new equipment. Reporting of all faults, deficiencies, and unusual occurrences to Facility Engineer. Perform all in house maintenance of equipment as per manufacturers recommendations. Schedule periodic outside contractor maintenance of equipment as per manufacturers recommendations and schedule appropriate shut downs for minimal facility disruption. Direct operation and maintenance of plumbing lines both interior and exterior delivering steam, chilled water, hot water and compressed air to satellite areas and their auxiliaries. Arrange for the procurement of fuel, anticipating quantity, scheduling deliveries, selecting vendors, keeping supporting records. On-site and remote PC monitoring and adjustment of equipment operating parameters. Hire or make principal recommendation for additional engineering and plant staff. Plan and manage guest room, public areas, and mechanical preventive maintenance. Ensure all scheduled inspections are conducted and the hotel remains compliant with all AHJs. Trouble shoot plumbing, minor electrical, and HVAC issues throughout the hotel. Ensure a training program for the department is maintained. All shift engineers should know major shut off valves and electrical feeds. Supportive Functions Participates in Manager on Duty program Operating the TimeSaver, Birchstreet and systems required by Marriott, including any new systems that are created for this work area. Maintaining CTA Certification Supporting/attending charitable events that we sponsor DESIRED COMPETENCIES, WORK SKILLS, AND KNOWDLEGE REQUIRED To perform the job successfully, an individual should demonstrate the following competencies. Other competencies not listed may be required for specific positions. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills, and/or abilities required. Must have strong verbal and written communication skills. Must have strong customer service skills. Ability to multi-task. Proficient organization and supervisory skills needed to accomplish a task. Considerable knowledge of computer systems for registration, reservations and back-up systems. SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES Supervises the Maintenance and Engineering staff which includes Hiring, Training, Coaching, Discipline, and Performance Evaluations. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED: High school, technical school, apprenticeship, trade school graduate or equivalent required. Four years relevant experience in hospitality, commercial or industrial operations. QUALIFICATIONS Minimum Requirements: Working experience and knowledge of HVAC systems, boilers, burners, chillers, cooling towers, pumps, heat exchangers, Building Automation System (BAS) controls, water treatment, hydronic piping, primary/secondary piping and how they all work together. Ability to read and interpret blueprints. Prior management experience.
