Job Responsibilities and Requirements: The VP of External Communications will be expected to offer innovative thinking and bold ideas to the team and to the company as a whole. This person will be a strong change agent as we continue to evolve the company and culture. This position leads the External Relations/Communications function including: Media Relations, Thought Leadership, Financial Communications, Corporate Initiatives and Social Media. This position is a senior member of the Communications and Marketing Services (CoMS) leadership team reporting to the SVP and Chief Communications Officer (CCO). Qualifications Bachelor's Degree or equivalent required 15 years of related experience in Communications and/or External/Public Relations 15 years of successful managerial experience Seasoned leader with experience managing diverse teams Deep media relationships and ability to deliver proactive stories while also managing issues Ability to develop strong and compelling stories about complex topics Expert in the art of media relations and experienced enough to coach others Proven experience building and implementing thought leadership programs for a variety of senior executives Keen understanding of how media and thought leadership platforms converge and how to tell great stories within this context Proactive mindset and big thinker Collaborative leader who inspires the team and has immediate credibility with the client Fearless approach coupled with excellent instincts Competencies Customer focus: Building strong customer relationships and delivering customer-centric solutions.
