Job Responsibilities and Requirements: Primary Responsibilities: Write well-documented and maintainable Python code Maintain and improve Ollie, our custom content management system and web platform built on the Django web framework Find and fix security vulnerabilities Discover bottlenecks, optimize code or SQL queries to improve performance Work with our product team to implement and deploy new features to TheAtlantic.com and CityLab.com where they will be viewed by millions of people Requirements: Able to communicate well with both a technical or non-technical audience Has developed and deployed into production a non-trivial Django application Has written Python code on a team in a professional setting Knowledgeable about Python best practices including PEP8, unit testing, and documentation While not an HTML or CSS expert, is knowledgeable enough to make small front-end tweaks and changes as needed Comfortable enough with Git to rebase without breaking into a sweat Knows SQL and is able to write a query in order to pull reports from a database Feels at ease performing routine tasks on the Linux command line (creating directories, changing permissions, etc).
