Job Responsibilities and Requirements: Job Summary: Associate Project Manager ensures the timely, safe and cost effective construction of Shentel cell sites, or other outside plant projects. Construction projects include new macro cell site construction, new small cell construction, capital improvements to existing cell sites, microwave installation, decommissioning of unnecessary cell sites, capital reinforcement of existing towers, and repair and maintenance. Project manage contractors, public utilities, employees, equipment vendors, third parties and other internal departments to achieve stated goals. Additionally, the candidate must be able to become competent in the full scope of project management duties associated with the deployment of multi-service telecommunications networks. This position will team with Site Acquisition, RF Engineering, and Network Operations personnel to develop implementation & improvement plans using best-cost principles. This position will continually reevaluate and improve construction and preventative maintenance processes in order to increase efficiency and speed to market, decrease capital expenditures, and decrease repair and maintenance expenses. Qualifications: a. Education: Two-year college degree or technical degree is required. Alternatively, 2 years of construction experience or 2 years project management experience in lieu of degree. b. Experience Level: Minimum of 1 year of construction experience required, or 1 year of project management experience required. c. Special Requirements: o Must have the ability to be trained to effectively manage a construction project. o The ability to develop strong negotiation skills are critical. o The ability to be trained to interpret and contemplate complex architectural, structural engineering and environmental standards, plans, and reports. o Competent verbal and written skills sufficient for requesting quotes and bid walks. o This position requires regular travel. d. Computer Skills: Must be able to become proficient with spreadsheet software (e.g., Microsoft Excel), Adobe Acrobat, Siterra, Microsoft Visio, Microsoft Power Point, and Microsoft Word. e. Licenses or Certifications: Must have and maintain a valid and current driver s license with no restrictions. f. Work Environment: This job operates in an office environment and in the field. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, scanners, and filing cabinets. The role will regularly drive a truck to construction sites.
