Physical Therapist

Abilene Texas Seeking a Registered Therapist V in DAD's provides highly advanced therapeutic habilitation services in the areas of Occupational and Physical therapy. Work involves performing or overseeing habilitation testing, programming, diagnosis, and reporting clinical services that may involve evaluation and treatment of dysphasia (swallowing disorders and food textures); wound care; circulatory studies; evaluation and fabrication of orthopedic equipment, seating, and mobility devices; and other specialized modalities utilized in the treatment of individuals with multiple physical disabilities and serious medical conditions. This position plans, develops and implements complex physical nutritional management programs and treatment protocols to treat, improve, or maintain consumer's level of health and function. This position reviews and analyzes assessments, progress reports, incident reports, and medical consults. The Registered Therapist V participates in quality assurance and quality enhancement activities related to provision of therapeutic services at the local and state level and participates in decisions involving facility policy and procedures. This position oversees the coordination of the student internships or other educational/programs and may conduct research in therapeutic outcomes/practice. This position plans, assigns, and supervises the work of others. The RT V works independently with minimal supervision with extensive latitude for the use of initiative and judgment. Attends work on a regular and predictable schedule in accordance with agency leave policy and performs other duties as assigned. Administers and interprets assessment, interviews clients/staff and recommends treatment plan and renders therapeutic treatments to consumers. Plans, develops, and implements treatment protocols to treat, improve, or maintain consumer's level of function. Oversees habilitation testing, programming, diagnosing, reporting and researching clinical services. Plans, schedules, and oversees orthopedic equipment production, maintenance, and repair programs, and designs and prepares plans and specifications for custom and adaptive equipment. Writes reviews and analyzes assessments, progress reports, incident reports, and medical consults. Participates in quality assurance and quality enhancement activities related to therapeutic services at the local and state level. Plan, assigns, and/or supervises the work of others. Designs, directs and oversees training programs for both consumers and staff. Oversees the coordination of the student internships' programs for both local and nationwide colleges. Participates in conferences for diagnosis and treatment planning. Performs habilitative and therapeutic evaluation and treatment. Knowledge of the principles of habilitative therapy and their application to the treatment of individuals with cognitive impairments and developmental disabilities. Knowledge of therapeutic principles and techniques. Knowledgeable in the areas of physical and developmental disabilities. Ability to evaluate, prescribe, and provide seating, mobility, positioning, orthotic or assistive devices. Ability to impart general and specific information about HT, MR, CP, anatomy, physiology, and treatment techniques to persons with varying levels or experience. Ability to follow instructions and base decisions on current policies. Ability to communicate effectively both in written form and verbally. Ability to produce reports, progress notes and assessments utilizing computer technology. Ability to work well with staff, foster the team process, and assume leadership role as indicated. Skill in the use of rehabilitation and orthopedic equipment, materials, and tools and in the repair of rehabilitation therapy equipment.
