Job Responsibilities and Requirements: ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: Manage the month-end close process to ensure timely and accurate divisional financial statements, in accordance with GAAP. Manage monthly and quarterly reporting requirements. Review and approve monthly divisional journal entries and balance sheet reconciliations Maintain a thorough understanding of the chart of accounts and operations to ensure that transactions are recorded in a timely and accurate manner Provide technical guidance including analyzing and researching complex accounting issues in accordance with GAAP and SEC regulations for division Manage quarterly reviews and annual audit by internal and external auditors Assist in the formulation of internal controls and policies to comply with legislation, regulations and established best practices Oversee annual and interim reporting to Tax Department including tax packages, and apportionment/provision schedules Supervise divisional weekly cash forecasting activities. Manage and/or works on special projects, as directed by SS Controller Provide guidance to division resulting in the implementation of best financial and accounting practices to reduce close cycle and improve accuracy and efficiency Evaluate basis of revenue recognition on contracts in accordance with ASC 606. Non-Essential Job Duties (formerly Other Job Functions) Other duties may be assigned SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY: 1 to 5 Experience and Skills: KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES: Required: Excellent attention to detail in all aspects of work Ability to maintain sensitive and confidential information as required by government standards Ability to interact effectively with peers and supervisors Ability to interact appropriately with the public when necessary Ability to adhere to workplace rules Ability to exercise an exceptional level of ethics and independent judgment as required Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, peers, direct reports and others Ability to analyze large amounts of data, determines root causes of problems, recommend actions, and drive the implementation of those actions independently Demonstrated ability to lead, manage direct reports and drive continuous process improvement Strong business judgment to assess complex situations with multiple issues and drive appropriate actions Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills as well as strong organizational skills Excellent interpersonal skills to work with diverse product groups EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Required: BA/BS in Accounting/Finance 7 years relevant experience is required Expertise in US GAAP including the ability to research issues, document conclusions and discuss with management and the Companys independent auditors Strong experience in reviewing account reconciliations and journal entries Preferred: CPA license Experience in both private and public accounting areas. Previous experience as an Accounting Manager is preferable Defense industry experience a plus Additional Information: Job Level: Management Number of Openings: 1 Years of Experience: Level of Education: BA/BS Starting Date : ASAP.
