Job Responsibilities and Requirements: Principal Duties and Responsibilities: Overhead Transmission Line Engineer or Structural Substation Engineer. On a team performing all aspects of design for high voltage and EHV overhead transmission line projects including line routing, structure spotting, structural analysis and design, foundation design, insulator and hardware selection, conductor and shield wire selection, drainage, grading, permitting, material specification and technical support for construction. Keenly focused on production of high quality work and supports continuous improvement efforts. Enjoys working in a fast-paced environment on multiple projects. Projects follow a budget, schedule, and quality requirements. A more experienced candidate will review other s engineering work or assignments and serves as the responsible charge for a project. Actively coordinates with internal and external team members on transmission line projects for the world s top electric utilities. Responsible for assisting with identification of key client interests and drivers and may determine the key clients in some instances. Communicates client interests and drivers to project team members and develops approaches to accommodate these concerns in the performance of the work. Provides support to business development or pursuit activities. Serves as an overhead transmission line design technical specialist and has knowledge and skill set to provide consultation and guidance to project teams. Assists with performance management process, mentoring, recognition, and any corrective actions required. Participates in career planning, and learning and development. Minimum Qualifications: Requires a bachelor's degree in engineering from either a recognized accredited program in their home country or the country in which the professional is practicing. Minimum of 1 year related work experience All applicants must be able to complete pre-employment onboarding requirements (if selected) which may include any/all of the following: criminal/civil background check, drug screen, and motor vehicle records search, in compliance with any applicable laws and regulations. Preferred Job Qualifications: Experience in the field of high voltage overhead transmission line design including line routing, structure spotting, structural analysis and design, foundation design, insulator and hardware selection, conductor and shield wire selection, material specification and technical support for construction with proficiency in use of PLS-CADD and PLS-POLE, structure spotting, structural analysis and design, foundation design, insulator and hardware selection, conductor and shield wire selection, drainage, grading, permitting. Familiarity with the National Electrical Safety Code and Professional Engineer License strongly preferred for those with 5 or more years of experience. EIT/FE strongly preferred. Proficient in or familiar with use of PLS-TOWER. Proficient in the use of drilled pier foundation design software such as FAD or LPILE. Written Communications, Drive For Results, Decision Quality, Priority Setting, Planning, Delegation, Directing Others, Conflict Management, Informing, Listening, Dealing with Ambiguity, Customer Focus, And Building Effective Teams or being an Effective Team Member. General knowledge of the industry and technology trends specific to overhead transmission lines. Some knowledge of construction practices and constructability, procurement and contract administration, and estimating.
