Job Responsibilities and Requirements: PRIMARY PURPOSE OF POSITION Responsible for managing the risk associated with customer accounts receivables. Ensure that all risks are properly identified, characterized, valued, and reported on a consistent and timely basis. Responsible for coordination of assessment of future risk of receivables through the development of a verifiable reserve methodology in conjunction with Finance. Manage identification of risk through development and maintenance of risk management strategies (including behavioral risk scoring) for incorporation into credit and collection operations. Develop appropriate risk management analysis, trends and performance metrics to ensure full and complete reporting of credit risk management and financial reporting to Customer Operations, Finance and Senior Management. Position may be required to work extended hours, including 24 x 7 coverage during storms or other energy delivery emergencies. PRIMARY DUTIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES Accountability- Responsible for ensuring that credit & collection risks are properly identified, characterized, valued for a $5 Billion total residential and commercial energy distribution portfolio. Produce daily, weekly and monthly indicators of risk of receivables for both operational execution and financial reporting. - Accountable for coordination and validation of risk management strategies- including behavioral risk scoring - for purposes of loss forecasting. - Support credit & collection practices through development of risk-based collection strategies, including proactive and active collections, termination work program and recovery actions. - Prepare monthly and ad hoc reports for presentation of operating performance indicators, financial analysis and annual budget and latest estimate verification. - Analyze customer, operating and financial data to provide organization management with advice and recommendations with regard to risk, opportunities and forecast of results with regards to uncollectible accounts (UA) expense. Support Regulatory and Financial Planning efforts with regard to estimation of risk due to changing regulatory revenue requirements. - Support modeling of provision for bad debt reserve including the monthly estimate of reserve expense as well as forecasting and associated variance analysis. POSITION SPECIFICATIONS Minimum: - BS/BA in a quantitative field (Finance, Accounting, Statistics). MBA, CFA or CPA is preferred. - At least 8-10 years of work experience with significant risk management, risk forecasting or portfolio analysis experience. - Demonstrated experience in analyzing risk attributes of a large, diverse retail portfolio of receivables. - Experience in managing or supporting credit & collection operations. Personal characteristics include: -strong interpersonal skills-ability and willingness to be hands on with few preconceptions as to where responsibilities end-proven ability to interact extensively and successfully with all levels of the organization-ability to respond quickly and decisively in a fast changing environment-ability to establish and sustain cross-functional teams and relationships- Work independently and through ones initiative and self-motivation. Ability to handle ambiguous situations - This position is charged with the supporting organizational understanding and consideration of credit & collection risk associated with customer accounts receivables and in developing strategies to reduce and manage the Company's bad debt expense.
