Job Responsibilities and Requirements: Position Responsibilities: Safety Case Engineering and Requirements Management for Electronic Systems Engineering. Work closely with product design and development teams to ensure ISO-26262 (Functional Safety) standards are implemented through projects lifecycles for mechatronic/electronic products. Work with colleagues in U.S. and Germany to develop an efficient approach to apply Functional Safety standards to our mechanical/electronic projects. Conduct change and problem analysis with the result that our system safety requirements are refined, verified and reported in a timely fashion Conduct FMEA and FTA in support of development of the safety concept and safety strategy. Transfer of derived and refined safety requirements into a formal specification which case-by case will be mapped to and negotiated with customers to maximize re-use in Business Unit. Verification of suitable completion of Safety Case work products: Checking interfaces, ensuring appropriate progress and verification of safety requirements. Leading functionally diverse and geographically diverse project teams in both the process & methods elements of ISO-26262. Leading Application Development team in development, planning and execution of validation testing. Serve as main point of contact for customer staff and teams involved in Functional Safety: this typically involves periodic meetings at customer sites, and global telecoms to both customer and Business Unit globally distributed teams. Publish and deliver training material to bring Business Unit staff up-to-speed with ISO-26262. Carry discussions with Business Unit senior engineering management, derive needs for training or gaps in understanding in the objectives and methods of Functional Safety. Travel to Germany and other European locations for workshops and information sharing with Functional Safety colleagues in our Business Unit. Maintain technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, formal training, reviewing professional publications, establishing and expanding professional networks, and participating in professional societies. Ensure compliance with the ZF Quality Management System requirements (ZF QMS) which includes IATF 16949, ISO 9001 and Customer Specific Requirements (CSR). Perform other duties as assigned.Essential Skills and Experience: Bachelor's Degree in Electrical/Software/Mechanical Engineering required. 5 - 6 years of experience working with strong functional/product knowledge in the areas of electronic systems and functional safety. Excellent project and planning abilities Superior interpersonal, communications and listening skills Strong drive for teamwork with a customer-oriented approach to projects A mix of hardware and software knowledge Strong problem solving and analytical skills Experience in application of Functional Safety Standard: ISO-26262 and Safety Case work products required. Experience in requirements management in DOORS Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint English language competency - both oral and writtenPreferred Skills and experience: Experience in the Automotive industry German and/or Spanish language skills a plus.
