Job Responsibilities and Requirements: Key responsibilities will include performing construction inspection activities on construction projects and conducting on-site observations of construction installations. Candidate should have experience with and working knowledge of policies, procedures, and specifications for urban reconstruction projects. This position has variable shift work. Candidates will perform daily project administration and coordination for the new/rehabilitation of general site and discipline work related to rail and transit heavy construction. Able to read contract documents and construction plans. Responsible for providing administrative support to the Consultant Construction Manager (CCM) and Resident Engineer staff in developing and reviewing daily inspector reports, handling project correspondence and filing, plotting of plans, producing estimates, assisting in change order process, review of payrolls and EEO documents. Assure that proper document control, quality assurance documentation and construction project records are kept. The candidate will also perform field quality control inspections. Assure quality and uniformity in the records of various contracts in the overall program. Overall Duties include: Directly support the Consultant Construction Manager (CCM) Management of the construction management field staff at the site for administrative requirements Manage sub-consultant support staff Management of the submittal processes Management of the change order process Management of activities planning and scheduling processes Enforcement and adherence to project management plans and guidelines Manage and approve requisitions and invoices Utilization of Constructware, Expedition, Prolog, P3 software construction management packages The ideal candidate for this position will have the following requirements: Ability to work seamlessly with both clients, sub-consultants, and STV staff Office engineer, or construction management experience Strong PC Skills, primarily utilizing Microsoft Office software is a must Must be willing to work variable shifts if required Experience working on rail or transit related projects Valid Driver s license Experience in construction inspection and working on or around active railroad operations. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Additional Preferred Qualifications The ideal candidate must possess a NICET Certification Level I through IV or an Engineering Degree along with construction inspection, structural steel and concrete repairs experience. Experience with NYC Metropolitan area agencies is preferred but not required. Other certifications such as ACI, OSHA 40-hour, work zone traffic control or other construction technologies are a plus. Strong time management and attention to detail NYC Transit experience a plus.
