Job Responsibilities and Requirements: Summary: Perform coagulation and molecular testing on patient/blood product specimens including specimen processing, quality control, data entry, inventory control and new assay development. Major Activity: Perform all aspects of laboratory testing (including routine and specialty testing, research and development, and new assay implementation) All coagulation, routine and specialty, testing; automated and manual methods Molecular testing including infectious disease and genetic tests Limited hematology, i.e. CBC, platelet counts (patient and blood products) Research studies and new test development; including validation and implementation Specimen processing Review & release of testing results Additional duties as required by manager Major Activity: Participate in quality control and quality assurance activities Perform daily, weekly, monthly, etc. quality control functions QA/QC data collection and identify trends and other issues to the manager Equipment maintenance, minor repair and troubleshooting Participate in departmental quality assurance meetings Major Activity: Help maintain inventory of supplies Specimen inventory management Deficient plasma aliquoting Supply inventory management including identifying needed supplies and stocking received items Major Activity: Share in on-call responsibilities Take weekly Call in rotation with other techs Major Activity: Other duties as assigned Key Measures Actively participate in laboratory quality control Accountability for final results Reduction of failed runs & corrected results Promote teamwork atmosphere Alignment with the achievement of department/functional strategic Reduction in cycle times Adaptation to workload increase goals Adaptation to workload increase goals Education and Training Bachelors Degree in Medical Technology or related Science (Biology, Chemistry) required. Work Experience 3 years relevant experience required 3 years of testing experience preferred. Experience in a research environment a plus Required Skills Basic Math skills and statistical analysis. Ability to perform multiple tasks including multiple testing scenarios simultaneously. Able to follow standard operating procedures, supervisor instructions, ability to troubleshoot equipment/assays Donor Experience Language skills must include the ability to read, write, speak English effectively and follow oral and written instructions consistent with policies and procedure, SOPs or other requirements.
