Job Responsibilities and Requirements: PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES Pitch, RFP and Presentation Support: Provide thorough and proactive presentation and pitch support and coaching to the lawyers. This may include drafting and defining pitch meeting scripts and roles, outlining presentations, creating pitch material, vetting and crafting pre-presentation questions, assessing strategy, managing projects, etc. Business Development Opportunity Spotting: Monitor industry, client and legal developments and trends, identify and communicate potential opportunities to marketing department and firm leadership, as well as lawyers. Issue monthly reports to all lawyers in assigned practices with pitch and proposal highlights and win of the week promotions to garner excitement for the execution of business development and touchpoint activities. Business Development Coaching and Strategy: Set the business development strategy, goals and objectives that support the lawyers in the preservation of existing and generation of new business, in collaboration with practice and department chairs and the larger marketing department. Assist/guide lawyers in identification and pursuit of business development prospects, along with maintenance of existing client relationships. Provide insight on relationship expansion opportunities, as well as oversight on conflict issues and other potential business development challenges. Practice and Department Meetings: Execute and plan with the corporate department co-chairs monthly departmental and practice meetings that are engaging and inspirational as a vehicle for communicating and reinforcing the strategic goals of the department. Drive and plan monthly practice meetings for other assigned practices, in collaboration with the practice group leaders. Matter Tracking: Track, gather and report on deals and matters handled by the firm. Share this data with third-party reporting outlets as appropriate. Intelligence Gathering: Provide competitive intelligence following each pitch/proposal by crafting debrief questions and working with the lawyers to evaluate, with client feedback, our successes and downfalls in the pitch process. Research and Analysis: Work with the Competitive Intelligence Manager to deliver proactive client, prospect, region, office, competitor and industry research to meet the business development needs of the firm s partners as outlined in business development and strategic plans. Develop and maintain an understanding of the market for legal and associated services as well as a keen understanding of the competitive landscape. Marketing Collateral and Lawyer Biographies: Work with assigned lawyers to ensure that biographies, practice descriptions and office descriptions, among others, are up-to-date and ready for print and web publication. Directories and Surveys: Respond in collaboration with our communications team to directories and surveys such as Chambers and Legal 500 , in addition to regional awards and rankings. Client Alerts, Newsletter, CLE and Other Value-Added Services: Work with the firm s partners to issue branded client alerts, newsletters and CLE trainings (Jenner & Block Plus). Develop and coordinate programs and events in our offices and beyond. Internal and External Communications: Assist the communications team in raising profiles of practice groups, offices, individual partners and the firm, as identified in business and strategic plans; this may include social media strategies, as well as traditional communications platforms. Speaking Engagements and Article Placements: Assist the communications team in identifying valuable opportunities for speaking engagements and article placement. QUALIFICATIONS AND OTHER REQUISITES Bachelor s degree is required, preferably in a discipline requiring writing, research and analysis, marketing or business. Five or more years of marketing experience. Candidates with MBAs or JDs are a plus law firm or professional services experience.
