Job Responsibilities and Requirements: The sr. Paralegal supports the Corporate Intellectual Property Department in general and the San Jose patent process in particular.This is a new position in San Jose CA (which changed from remote support to on-site support) and youll be the only paralegal on-site; your role is to work together with 2 local Patent Attorneys. Job Description -Support the patent process with a core set of administrative tasks and responsibilities -Docketing, handle e-mails, agendas and keep track of deadlines -Compare, check and enter new data in the patent portfolio management system -Organize patent review meetings -Communicate with international patent agents -Work together with the local San Jose Patent Attorneys -Become knowledgeable in the field of patent procedures (training will be provided and will be partly in Veldhoven, the Netherlands) -Be a constructive member of the team of 15 Paralegals: 3 located in San Diego (CA), 1 located in Wilton (NY), 10 located in Veldhoven (the Netherlands), 1 located in San Jose (CA) (this position) Education -Has preferably a bachelor degree or higher -Has IP knowledge on a sr. Paralegal level -Is certified (Paralegal program) -Is commissioned as notary public in California or willing and eligible to be commissioned as a notary public in California Experience -7-10 years working experience preferably in the area of IP (company legal department or law firm) -Experience with administrative work -Experience working with MS Office (Word, Excel), databases and generating reports -Affinity with Intellectual Property or legal matters Personal skills -Is a self-starter -Has a proven track record in working autonomously -Is willing to adapt -Has a strong focus on accuracy/attention to detail -Has a very strong pro-active attitude in execution as well as in thinking ahead/along -Is able to handle multiple priorities simultaneously -Has good organizational and verbal communication skills -Has a good focus for relationship management and expectation management -Is familiar with working in a complex environment with multiple stakeholders (inventors as well as managers) Context of the position You will report to the Manager CIP Support & Administration, who reports to the Chief IP Counsel who are both located in Veldhoven, the Netherlands.This position is for 1.0 FTE. You will be responsible for the patent process specifically in San Jose CA and working according to the guidelines of the worldwide Paralegal team.
