Job Responsibilities and Requirements: The successful candidate for this position must be a results-oriented leader who can build strong working relationships and function effectively at all levels of the organization. S/he must be able to think strategically to identify and implement process improvements, mitigate risks, solve problems, and increase value. The role is responsible for executing Value-based Engineering and Risk Management, and processes for multiple capital project investments of various size and complexity (typically 15 MEUR-300+MEUR). The successful incumbent will champion the Capital Project Value-Based Engineering and Risk Management processes and ensure the effective development and execution of Global processes. Value Based Engineering Manager - Houston, TX Formula for Success: You Will - Organize and lead all aspects of the Value Based Engineering process for large capital projects per procedures and guidelines. Organize and lead the project Risk Management process per guidelines and procedures as a risk facilitator or risk manager - Serve as process owner and drive continual improvement projects (e.g., methods, tools, documentation, improvement support) for Value Based Engineering and Risk Management for large capital projects - Support FEL reviews per guidelines and procedures as a challenger when required. - Set-up, organize, and facilitate Technical Reviews for the applicable project gates per procedures to ensure project issues are properly addressed and sufficient planning exists for any open issues. - Coordinate updates to the Technical Rules related to Project Management. - Support quarterly Added Value to Customer data collection for the LCP business cases and track savings related to Risk Management and Value-based engineering. - Meet the goals of the Global Risk Management and Global Value Based Engineering Work Groups. - Support the goals of the regional Project Management Technical Rules Committee and those of the North American Technical Network for Project Management. - Ensure transparency and availability of processes, rules, procedures, and guidelines for Project Management, Quality Management, and Risk Management. - Collaborate with engineering, business units, global teams, and senior leadership to provide technical support and recommendations for continual project management performance improvements. - Provide support for site engineering and other North American Project Management Offices. - Mentor and coach less-experienced engineers, including participants in the Professional Development Program. QUALIFICATIONS - We Look for in You - Bachelor's degree in Engineering combined with at least 12 years of experience in project management, project engineering, construction management, or risk management for large capital projects. Preferred industry experience includes petrochemical, oil & gas, or similar heavy industrial fields. - Experience with the execution of large capital projects (>$15 million) required. - In-depth technical knowledge of overall project management and work processes for all phases of a project including FEL, detailed engineering, procurement, construction, and commissioning required. Turnaround experience is a plus. - Strong business acumen and ability to understand business value drivers and effectively drive changes that provide value improvement opportunities to large capital projects. - Demonstrated self-starter with excellent communication, organization, coordination, conflict management, and leadership skills. - Proven ability to work in a diverse team environment and with multiple teams. - Ability to travel up to 40% of the time. (25% on average) - Professional Certifications such as a PMP/PMI-RMP preferred. - Experience with joint ventures a plus. This position requires all candidates to either currently possess or obtain and maintain a TWIC (Transportation Worker Identification Credential) Card from the U.S. Department of Homeland Security.
