Job Responsibilities and Requirements: The Facilities Department is looking for an enthusiastic and energetic person for a Project Manager, Construction. has a strong institutional commitment to the achievement of excellence and diversity among its faculty and staff, and strongly encourages candidates to apply who will enrich Mason s academic and culturally inclusive environment. Responsible for project management leading to the successful completion, turnover and close-out of assigned capital and/or non-capital projects. Coordinates and works with internal (within facilities, i.e. contracts, engineering and design, code compliance and project inspection, planning, facility management, transportation, finance ) and external organizations (across the university, i.e. academic and auxiliary customers, IT and AV support, accounts payable, Office of Counsel; and, outside the university, i.e. Bureau of Capital Outlay Management, State Fire Marshall s Office, Utility Companies and Providers ) coordinating work efforts to achieve project success (i.e. quality, on time, within budget completion). Directs activities of other facilities members of the project team (project engineer, project inspector, etc.) and contracted consultants. Required Qualifications: A valid state driver s license. Registered Architect or Licensed Professional Engineer (in any state), or the ability to obtain within one year. Ability to transfer an out of state registration as an Architect or Professional Engineer to the Commonwealth of Virginia and obtain certification as a Virginia Construction Contracting Officer within one year. ABET Accredited Bachelor s degree in architecture or engineering, or a combination of education and equivalent experience. Preferred Qualifications: Knowledge of architecture/engineering/construction management and the design and construction process. Skill in preparing/presenting oral and written solutions. Effective interpersonal skills at all levels. Ability to coordinate multiple priorities/actions with desired results. General knowledge of furniture acquisition/installation; data, power and telecomm coordination; and building commissioning. Master s degree desired. Significant responsible experience with multi-million dollar facilities project management in design and/or construction, preferably with large scale projects for institutional clients such as institutions of higher education. Experience as Project Manager directing Design and/or Construction Contracts with demonstrated independent decision making. Experience with Design-Bid-Build required; experience with Design-Build and/or Construction Management At Risk delivery methods desired. Experience in selecting, negotiating, and managing professional services contracts.
