Job Responsibilities and Requirements: In this role you will be responsible for the development, refinement and execution of our consultant relations strategy that will focus on driving the firm s growth goals. In this role you will have the opportunity to foster new and existing relationships with counterparts at investment consulting firms that will result in the development and retention of assets across our product offerings. This role will require extensive travel. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES: Develop, adjust and execute on a viable and scalable consultant community strategy focused on developing new business and ensuring sales and service coverage of the appropriate major consulting firms Develop new relationships and existing relationships with key investment consulting firms Build relationships with key staff at investment consulting firms and identify opportunities and at risk business to increase and retain assets invested in TEPS investment solutions Provide senior level expertise related to consultants in the endowment and foundations / OCIO and planned giving markets while developing and managing a strategic, scalable approach to creating successful partnerships with the external consulting community Maintain a schedule of regular prospective and current consultant meetings and goals related to RFP generation and conversion rates Develop, maintain and communicate knowledge of TEPS products and investment expertise that influence consultant s decisions; Remain fluent in investment product and market trends and articulate our value proposition based on client needs and relevant to the competitive landscape Research the validity of public search opportunities Coordinate activities with the RFP team for client and prospect RFIs Maintain consistent communication with current clients, as well as prospects Manage process to monitor and manage relationships with the external consulting community, including tracking activities through a CRM Work closely with team's Managing Director to advance territory plans Compile management reports as need Work with legal, product and operations contacts to ensure smooth on-boarding of new clients Identify, cultivate and drive relationships with centers of influence with respect to internal business partners, as well as, TIAA s Institutional Retirement and Nuveen Consultant Relations teams to ensure strategic coordination across the firm Special project work as needed QUALIFICATIONS: Required Experience Ten or more years of financial services consultant relations experience in the OCIO, investment management or endowment markets Bachelor's Degree, advanced degree in business preferred CFA preferred Desired Experience Extensive network of investment management consultants Deep understanding of OCIO products and services as well as competitors' products and services in the marketplace Track record of effective and successful client development that leads to concrete sales results Prior experience at a top tier investment management firm Knowledge and understanding of financial markets and investment products across the range of traditional assets is required and alternative asset classes a plus Strong analytic skills Ability to develop strong client relationships and an in-depth understanding of client needs Sound time management skills and ability to manage multiple deadlines independently Must have extremely strong interpersonal, executive presence, influence and negotiation skills as represents TIAA at external events, conferences, and C-Suite executives of client institutions Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Power Point and Excel required.
